Dance with Me | Edward & Eleanor

He’d asked Charlotte Villiers to dance with him: an offer she had flatly refused. 

Edward couldn’t say that he blamed her. Despite that and despite having asked her on an impulse, he would be lying if he said the rejection hadn’t stung. But Edward prided himself on being able to say one thing and mean another. She may have wounded him, but he would be damned if anyone should suspect that she had. So he laughed off her dissmall as though it meant nothing at all. 

His countenance as jolly as ever, he approached Eleanor. She’d been standing alone, watching the others dance, looking as in need of a partner as he was. “It seems I cannot find a dancing partner for all the world,” He teased,“But you will dance with me, won’t you?” He asked, eyes sparking as he extended his hand out to her.

okay, so Edward is a disasTER and honestly isn’t always the best person but!!!! I do think that he’s a better person that most people realize (including himself!!!) and I certainly feel like Eleanor is one of the few people who consistently sees the better side of him. William is one of his favorite ppl in the entire world and it’s hard to say, exactly, since we don’t have a William, but I feel like he and Edward grew up together and have been best friends since forever! And, as a result, he’s known Eleanor for most of her life. 

I think he probably views her as the sister he never had tbh??? Like he’s definitely super kind ot her and spoils her!!!!! I also think that he definitely teases her a lot and likes to get her to smile and just wants good things for her!!!! That being said, he has no idea!!!! that she has feelings for him?????? That would probably shock him (and not much shocks edward lol) He definitely thinks of her as being like 8 still lol

... eleanor should have been more prepared for this.

she always knew she would inherit her mother’s title

yet no one seemed to mention the fact that a title came with many more responsibilities

granted, no one probably expected the godolphins and the waynfletes to meet for the first time, face to face, less than a year after the young woman claimed her title.

also, it probably should have been obvious, but she never really took into consideration that her title was a catalonian one.

and while eleanor things catalonia is quite lovely...

she loves avenia and her friends and life here. 

so, at the moment, she’s basically pretending things haven’t changed as much as possible. 

why ruin the coronation festivities with all her own woes?

because eleanor doesn’t like to brood on things-- she’s quite charming and cheerful most of the time!

loves reading and poetry and finds going to the theatre magical

would honestly have made the best nanny because she loves making some stories and going on pretend adventures?

which she and william did ALL THE TIME as kids

sometimes people look at the havilland siblings and must think ‘really?;

(her brother can be a bit much sometimes and eleanor is quite the opposite)

which always makes eleanor laugh because the pair are closer than siblings could be

william can honestly do no wrong in her eyes

made up a language as children in order to have secret conversations around their nannies and tutors.

(and drove at least 2 away in the process)

was so pleased when they both were invited to the palace to serve the crown

though eleanor wonders if their father secured his position in order to bring him closer to charlotte...

who is a lovely lady and would make a charming wife... to someone other than her brother. 

being in court has allowed her to meet all sorts of people as well... including edward lyon

he seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way, but she’s managed to see through the act

which is probably why she’s recently realized she’s in love with him.

this is quite problematic, as he is clearly in love with someone else...

even though she and edward seem to be destined to remain as friends indefinitely, she’s alright with that

with everything happening currently in avenia and elsewhere, having friends seems to be a fairly good idea.
