AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WILL I EVER WANT TO KNOW THE ANSWER?
WELL THANK YOU FRIEND FOR YOUR DAILY SCREAM BECAUSE NOW IM SCREAMIN G-
Okay alright hERE WE GO *cracks knuckles* INTENSE CHARACTER ANALYSIS TIME
I’m starting to believe more and more that Jacob’s wife was dead during the JTR DLC and that’s why we never saw her- and in terms of his son Jacob absolutely sent him outside of London the second he even thought shit was hitting the fan because we all know how protective Jacob can be, and considering how ashamed Jacob would have been the last person he wanted to keep ignorant of the atrocities of Jack would be his son.
Considering what you said at first I’m sure Jacob was more like his old self in terms of him having full control of the situation and wanting to terminate Jack before he got out of hand, however-
Unfortunately, Jacob has too big of a heart, and along with Emmett, Jack was practically his second son. I can’t even imagine the pain Jacob must have felt the moment he not only realized Jack betrayed him, but that he would have to kill him.
You can see this pain in the beginning of the DLC, with Jacob going up against Jack. That entire fight, Jacob never fought to win. Maybe to incapacitate Jack, but you can see he’s not aiming to kill. When Jacob’s on the ground though, Jack’s monologue finally gets through to him, and you can physically see the point in Jacob’s eyes when he finally realizes this man is a monster and there was no bringing back the little boy that Jacob had hoped to still find in Jack.
Jacob never wanted to kill Jack from the very beginning, but thanks to Emmett I’m sure he became one of the sole reasons Jacob had enough drive to go after Jack- (and all the brutal killings, of course). After Jack got into Jacob’s head enough and made Jacob think of how much he was a failure, that was when Jacob finally switched his mentality to where he thought everyone would be better off if he just sacrificed himself and ended it all.
If Jack was going to die, he knew he would be dying with him. That was the way it would be, as Jack was originally his fault anyway.
Jacob was a broken man the second he came on screen, and due to being away from his family for so long I’m also sure Jacob forgot the true reasons he was still fighting. Jack had gotten too far into his head. He made Jacob forget all the good he had done 20 years ago and was still doing with the prostitutes and just the brotherhood in general. When you become constantly surrounded by such negativity as Jacob was, I wasn’t surprised to find Jacob had lost his stubborn morality, bravery, and sense of justice, all only to be replaced by a meek sense of compromise and no will to live all in the sake of eradicating Jack.
Well I’m super sad now at how at all my depressing JTR DLC feels :’) Jacob the poor baby he needed his wife the most then to bring him back from the black void Jack had made him fall into buT NO BECAUSE UBISOFT IS SALTY AS HELL.
MAYBE YOU WILL HAVE FOUND YOUR ANSWER IN MY TEN PAGE ANALYSIS BUT IF NOT ENJOY THE FEELS FRIEND *PROCEEDS TO DROWN IN ALL THE TEARS*
