Laen x Brynn rambling
I've been playing through Eternal strands and while I'm not done. I am going ramble about Laen x Brynn because oh my god these two are so cute together. And Laen having the biggest crush on brynn with absolutely no subtletly while Brynn had no clue until Laen had to spell it out was just adorable and hilarious. Neither of these two are neurotypical and they're perfect for each other. And Laen blushing on the notion that Brynn can deadlift them is such a mood. They got a buff gf and definitely wouldn't be complaining if she did pick them up.

Well, it's WIP Wednesday and idk what the fuck has been in the water recently (420 (lol) words on my zevwarden fic last week, 1000 words on a shakarian wip just this past Monday, and 420 (i swear this was not on purpose but still. lol) words so far on a lorepoint wip today? Brain is in a fuckin pinball machine, but she is racking up a score istg).
Anyway. Have a teeny-tiny snippet that made me giggle.
Brynn grins. "I certainly thought so. I drew my bow so fast I nearly dropped it, and had the shot lined up before the next breath." She mimes the drawing of a bowstring, and Laen tries not to get distracted by the flexing of the very impressive bicep right in front of their face. They're only somewhat successful. Brynn, thankfully, is too engrossed in her storytelling to notice.
Every time I think about their height difference I need to chew on drywall for an hour.
Like. It's not even that big of a height difference! It's small enough I never even noticed until their sprites ended up on the same side of the screen somewhere halfway through the game!
Foaming at the mouth. Powerhouse pocket girlfriend and her lanky wisp of a genius partner. 💯 top tier ship dynamic.

Still on my Lorepoint bullshit:
"Do you want to...go for a walk?" It comes out hushed, barely more than a murmur, and Laen is certain if Brynn wasn't already basically breathing the same air as them, she wouldn't have heard them.
But she does hear them, and her teasing smile sharpens into something hungrier. "Oh, absolutely," she purrs, low and full of heated promise, before bowing her head to Laen's right hand and pressing a featherlight kiss against their knuckles.
It sends a bolt of hot lightning straight through them, almost knocking them off their feet.
When Brynn straightens again, she offers them her arm, and the entire scene feels straight out of one of Casmyn's romance novels, so much so that Laen can't help their nervous and delighted giggle as they slip their arm through Brynn's.
Ahem. I am. Unwell.
And it's Wednesday peeps, tagging everybody who sees! Go nuts show nuts we're all nuts 🥜.
This particular sprite only shows up like 3 times in the whole game but istg it's my favorite expression Laen makes. They are so damn excited they're sparkling. Talking about interviews, of all things.
This actually got me thinking though, and I think Laen and Dahm are the only ones who have sprites with this kind of noticeable 'traditional anime emote' vibe. Everyone has a range of expressions, but most are pretty tame smile/frown/blush looks. And then you have Laen with the sparkles and Dahm's mildly unnerving 'you triggered my hidden knowledge trapcard!' look where his glasses go silver and his grin turns sharp. Dorks, the both of them.
They're like the poster kids of 'Me and the bad bitch I pulled by having unmatched AuDHD rizz' (said bad bitches being Sola and Brynn, obviously).
Meanwhile Oria is looking on thinking 'if I had nickel for every time I recruited a badass absolute unit of a woman who then fell head over heels for an effusive stringbean gnc genius desperately running away from their past that I also recruited...I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.'
