Wheeee, she's done! This was really fun (and also really frustrating) but definitely helped me remember how much I love watercolor painting. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how well the armor turned out, I was worried about doing the metal bits. This was also my first attempt at painting a person in watercolor (all my previous watercolors were flowers and landscapes)!

Vaea is the first to know something isn't quite right, thanks to Autumn at her side. As the mabari lifts her head and twitches her ears back, a low growl rumbling through her barrel chest, Vaea rests a hand at the scruff of her neck. "Were we followed?"
"No." Maker, but that word must be the Wraith's favorite, what with how often and how emphatically he says it. Fenris dips his chin to glance back over his shoulder into the thick tangle of trees and brush at the edge of the clearing. "I killed every last slaver in that caravan myself."
Autumn's growl becomes a snarl, and it takes all of Vaea's strength to hold her in place. "Something is out in those woods."
Fenris doesn't stand, nor does he make any sudden movements. All he does is rest a hand on the pommel of his sword and shift slightly in his seat, tensed and ready to spring forward at a moment's notice. "Not for long."
Suddenly, Autumn leaps to attack, nearly dragging Vaea with her into the fray. When Vaea finally wipes the dirt from her face and untangles her traveling cloak from a nearly impossible knot that's wrapped itself all the way around her torso and back again, she leaps unsteadily to her feet with dagger in hand.
Another mabari has pinned Autumn to the ground, but Fenris isn't doing anything about it. "Call off your dog," he says to the trees, and he looks like he may actually be smiling about it.
"Our dog," comes the reply, and the woman the low and smoky voice belongs to steps into the firelight. She's barely taller than Vaea, but with a sturdier build, and her dark hair is wound around her head in a braided crown. First, she snaps at the mabari. âBeau, behave.â Then, she grins at Fenris, walks right up to him, and throws an arm around his neck to pull him in for a kiss.
Well. This woman is either mad, stupid, or both. Vaea doesn't loosen her grip on her dagger, ready to join in whatever fracas ensues. To her utter surprise, there is none; instead of leaping back, or even through, Fenris meets the woman's kiss with the sort of ardent passion one only reads about in storybooks.

My fav LotR extra is Peter Jackson and Christopher Lee talking about how Peter was trying to coach Lee to be more vocal during his death scene, and Lee straight up was like, âThatâs not the noise people make when they die to a knife in the chest. Itâs *this* noise,â and while heâs demonstrating, Peter remembers that Lee was a special forces guy in WWII and back away slowly and lets him do this thing.

Okay so I finished the watercolor! So after it dries and sets imma post it but uh. This was a bit of a trial cuz I realized about halfway through that my palettes actually kinda suck ass >.<
The one on the left is better (as shown by the obvious usage) but still a kinda cheap holdover from my high school years. The one on the right was a well-intentioned gift that's a chalky dumpster fire. (I appreciate the thought, truly, but I do wish people wouldn't by me $5 Walmart art supplies. Just give me a gift card.) Like, you can see the pigment separating in the pots! So before doing the second watercolor I have ordered a new 100 color palette that had good reviews and will hopefully save me some headaches next time. Unfortunately it also means no more painting until it comes in :(
