Loretta saves the day!

It was a blistering hot August day when Ellen MacGyver was buried. Mac in his little suit was miserable for so many reasons but the heat made everything that much more unbearable (plus the fact that his dad wouldn't let him take off the suit-coat or tie or, ya know, wear age/weather appropriate clothing)

the difference is that mac is a teenager, and it's his dad who is getting buried

headcanon stuffs

Mac hates how his suit jacket feels. It’s hot and scratchy, and it doesn’t help that it’s late April in LA. He doesn’t want to be here.

Even the dirt underneath him feels hot, and that’s underneath his socks and dress shoes.

Looking around, there are a dozen other people wearing the exact same suit as he is. At least it helps him blend in. Or it would, if he looked anything like the other men.

All of them are built with muscle and strong figures, while Mac looks like he’s doing his best impression of a stick bug. A stick bug with a suit on.

“I’m sorry for your loss.”

Mac takes in a sharp breath, looking at the man. He’s definitely one of the people that dad worked with. His haircut screams ‘military’ from a mile away. Still, he can’t place the face. Mechanically, Mac shakes his hand. “Thank you.”

There are only three people that Mac actually knows. Three and a half, maybe.

The Bozers stick out in the funeral, and it reminds Mac of himself.

As people begin to filter out, walking slowly between tombstones to get back to the path to the parking lot, Loretta pulls Mac close to her. “How’re you doing, baby?”

“I’m okay,” Mac replies, but still leans into her shoulder. “I guess.”
