My favorite bit from Macgyver (2016) is that yes, Mac is very good at improvising anything and everything at any time, but 90% of the time he’s gonna make a bomb. Is a bomb what’s needed for this moment? Maybe not, but he’s sure gonna make one.
Have to barricade enemies inside a building?
Bomb.
Trying to lose a pursuit car?
Bomb.
Minor inconvenience that could probably be fixed some other way?
A/N: I have been rewatching Macgyver again. I think that is the only explaination that I need. just Mac, but really who can resist him. So I decided to make a little one shot for boy scout over here. (Maybe do a full story for him, not like I'm planning it already)
“Ok, guys. Meet Aleks Paweł Kędzierski. A polish millionaire and drug smuggler who now also became involved in human trafficking.” Patricia Thornton tapped on the screen and blew up the picture of a middle aged man with dark hair and a scar on his jar to the team. Jack, Riley and Mac listened to their briefing, while Mac absentmindedly twisted a new shape into a paperclip.
“You guys will fly to Poland, find Aleks who had gone off the grid and bring him in. He is our only lead to this trafficking ring as of now. There will be a party at this location.”
“Oooh, look at that. That’s a castle!”
“Yes, Jack. If you think that a castle guarded to the teeth with hundreds of guards and filled with weapon and drugs as well as illegal market the best vacation trip.” Riley sasses back as she pulled up more and more images that had been caught by satellites, showing men carrying in different things into the mansion varying from food, drugs and weapons for an army based ready for war.
“This is no vacation trip, Dalton. This is one of the biggest leads we got. So don’t mess this up.”
“Of course, Patty.” Jack sat down on one of the arm chairs.
“So, when do we go?” Mac leans forward from his seat and places a bend paperclip on the table and resting his arms on his knees.
“Not now, but soon. You all will go in with cover ID’s but there is one problem.”
“That doesn’t sound good.”
“When does it ever, Jack?”
“You are only allowed in with a partner.”
“Eh, Patty. That isn’t going to work. There is only Riley here and we are two dudes.”
“Don’t you think I know that, Dalton.” Patricia crossed her arms as she stared him down.
“No, of course. Sorry, Ma’am.” Jack looked away and searched for Mac and Riley’s faces, screaming for them to help him as he widens his eyes.
“So, Thornton. Who is going to be our plus one?”
“Since Riley and Jack will be going in as partners. I have this one for you.” Thornton passes him a folder which he takes without hesitation. He spared her one last glance before turning to the top secret folder and reads the content. Even though he didn’t need to as he already knew who that person was just by looking at the picture. “I think you know where to find her.”
Mac snapped the folder shut and stood up before Jack could glimpse at whoever it would be joining them.
“Let’s go.” Mac immediately turned to the door and walked out, Riley close behind him.
“Oh come one. At least let me see who the gorgeous babe is.” Jack threw his hands up at his followed.
“You will known in a bit Jack. Just get it.” Mac leaned over the passenger seat. For once he sat behind the wheel and Jack reluctantly entered the passenger seat, with Riley in the back.
“So where are we going, Mac?”
Jack turns and raises a brow.
“Yeah, I would like to know too. And who is this person that is going to come with us one this mission?”
“You’ll see it soon enough, Jack. Calm down.”
The drive wasn’t long as Mac drove them towards his house.
“Well, I know for sure it’s not Bozer.”
“Yeah, Riley. We do need a girl and last I checked, Bozer isn’t one.”
Riley side eyed Jack as they walked towards the door, only to be met with Bozer Wilt busy setting up something in the living room. Probably one of his new scenes for his film.
“Hey, Boze.”
“Mac! Hey, what are you guys doing here? Jack, Riley. Ready to participate in my film?”
“Yeah, sorry. We still got work and a business trip coming up.”
“Yeah, sorry Bozer. Next time yeah. Then we will help you with your…. Whatever this is…”
“Hey! This isn’t just anything, Jack. These are my preparations for the fight between the–”
“Sorry, Boze. We don’t have much time until our business trip. Is (Y/N) back?”
“(Y/N)? Yeah, she came back early in the morning, why?”
Mac shook his head and walked towards his room. “Nothing, just need her for something.”
Walking to the other side of the house, Jack quickly rushed after him and clasped him on his shoulder.
“Ooooh, wait, wait. (Y/N)? You mean the (Y/N) (L/N)? You don’t mean sharp shooter (Y/N) who went to the army with you?”
“No, Jack. That’s exactly who.”
“Whoa, wait. You mean, Thornton assigned someone you both know of as Mac’s partner? Why isn’t she working with us in the DXS then?”
Jack turned around to Riley as Mac signed them to stay outside for a bit as he slipped into his room.
“Because. (Y/N) decided to retire from saving the world after saving Mac. Recuperating took some time, so she opted to do some light work that was as important and helpful.” Jack sighed and turned to the closed door, waiting for Mac to let them in. “But I guess since Patty assigned her as Mac’s partner in this….”
“That means, she is back in full health and action, huh?” Riley crossed her arms and glanced away from Jack.
__________
Inside, Mac slipped in and walked up to his bed where a figure could be made out under the covers, curtains drawn shut letting no light in. Mac sat down on the edge of his own bed and brushed his hand against the hair that poked out from under the covers before shaking her slightly.
“(N/N)” Mac leaned down and whispered into her ear. Hearing a groan, he leaned a bit away and watched as a face poked out and squinted eyes looked at him.
“Angus?” A tired muttered filled his ears as he smiled softly. She was probably one of the only people that could get away with calling him that and him not getting annoyed with it.
“Sorry to wake you. But you need to get up now, we have a mission for you.”
After filling her in about the mission and her moaning in protest about it, Mac was able to make her sit up and throw on some pants and his hoodie as she fought with her hair. Mac just kept watching, eyes softening as he watched her trying to get rid of her drowsiness. While (Y/N) was getting ready, Mac had drawn the curtains open to let the midday sun shine in before sitting back down next to her. Leaning in he peppered her face with small kisses until he heard her giggles.
“As much as convincing your kisses are, why am I included in your mission?” (Y/N) rolled her head back as Mac stopped his assault of kisses on her, her arms draped over his shoulder. Mac gave his signature lopsided smile and shrug, keeping her close to him as he had his arm around her waist, laying lightly on top of her.
“To be honest, no clue.”
“Great.” (Y/N) groaned. “And let me guess, Jack is included in this mission too.”
“Whatever gave it away?” raising an eyebrow at his girlfriend, he leaned a little closer ready to give into temptation and kiss her lips.
“Oh you mean, besides him never leaves your side? Probably his voice filtering through the door and spilling you past to Riley.” (Y/N) nodded lightly to the door hearing Jack complain about something inaudible.
“Well, that’s Jack.” Mac deadpanned and sighs as he looked over his shoulder and eyed the door, maybe glaring at him will make Jack Dalton shut up. Which doesn’t.
Leaving one last kiss on her lips, one that stayed longer then the others, he walked back to the door and let his friends meet their new partner for the mission.
“Okay, Jack. You can stop now.”
“Finally, Mac. Now why did we ha— “
“Good to see you too, Jack.” (Y/N) was standing next to the bed now and stretched before crossing her arms, looking back at her old comrade.
“(Y/N)!” Jack rushed forward and lifted her off the ground as he hugged her. Nearly crushing her lungs with how tight he was holding her and spinning her around.
“Ok, Jack. Jack!” She tried to make him stop and hit his back . “Air would be nice.”
“Oh, yeah. Sorry.” Finally touching the ground with her own two feet again, she gave Jack a look before letting her fist connect with his chest. Doubling over, Jack groaned as the other three in the room smirked.
“Yeah, you still got it. Damn, woman. Never letting up are you.”
“Just because I’m not working with you doesn’t mean I’m not working in general.”
“Thanks, (Y/N).”
“No problem, Riley.” Both of the girls high fived and waited for Jack to recover.
“Ok, that hit wasn’t so bad.” Jack bluffed. “But really now. It’s been a very long time, but I wouldn’t have thought that you would be together with Mac here.”
“What are you implying, Jack?” Mac crossed his arms as (Y/N) simply raised an eyebrow at him.
“Come on, Mac. We are talking about (Y/N), sharp shooter (Y/N) (L/N). The only girl when we were in the army. She could take out most of us in the army without her weapons.”
“You do know I’m standing here.”
“Not talking to you right now.” raising her hands she turned to Riley who just shook her head.
“And?”
“And when did you two even get together?! Weren’t you together with Nikki?”
“I was never together with Nikki, Jack. Nikki and I were close friends.” Mac rolled his eyes and leaned back. “And for you information. (Y/N) and I have been together since we came back from the army.”
“...Wait. What!”
“Eh, guys we really need to go.” Riley looked at her watch and looked towards (Y/N) who had taken the time and pack her bag for the mission and change.
“Yeah, right. Let’s go.” Mac took the bag from her hands and wrapped his other one around her waist as they followed Riley out. Leaving Jack in the room to catch up.
“Hey! Wait up. You have to explain that to me better. Mac!”
