Lori’s hands were shaking as she sat in the back of the cab, the usual Manhattan traffic surrounding her. Usually she wouldn’t risk taking a cab to Eric’s side of town, much easier for a cab driver to remember her face than if she was just one in a crowd of hundreds, but today she decided to allow herself the luxury. There was too much on her mind to navigate the streets today anyway. How was she going to tell him? How would he react? Would he be angry? Should she even be telling him? She didn’t even know if it was his.
She was pulled from her train of thought by the driver demanding the fare from her. She handed over a few notes before stumbling out of the car, and taking a few breaths to centre herself and walking up to Eric’s front door and knocking confidently.
