Can you do a situation where the demon bros find a lost child at the park or mall or smthn? Just a bit of fluff
🖼️ A/N: Okay so I was writing this because I finally had the time and I'm finally not on writer's block, but tumblr decided it was hungry and ate this headcanon like three times already. So I'll post the first part with the older brothers + Satan, and then I'll post the younger brothers, otherwise it might disappear for a fourth time. I hope you like it, anon, and sorry for the delay!
Lucifer
Now it's not like he cared much about kids. They are a little too noisy and too energetic. And Lucifer is indifferent to them most of the time, yet he can't ignore the crying because he would feel terribly guilty, after all he has 6 younger brothers and he knows that each one of them would panic if it was at night and they were lost without help. Good heavens, Levi and Mammon would probably cry and scream their big brother's name so loud all Devildom would be able to hear it. And, ahem, they did it once when they were new to Devildom. Lucifer still laughs at what happened.
The forest he's in is considered the most dangerous in all of Devildom, if not for Diavolo's request to collect magic items he certainly wouldn't be there either, so he hurries to find the crying child. Dodging huge branches and trying to see through the darkness, Lucifer finally finds a girl with torn dress sleeves and a cut on her cheek, possibly caused by a wild beast. In her hands rests a basket full of flowers and other leaves that seem to be important to the girl, she holds them close to her as if asking for protection.
“It's okay, little one. There's no reason to cry." He says in a voice so soft he might have been surprised at himself, but he doesn't think about it as he crouches down to be the girl's height and wipes her tears away. "Why don't you tell me your name?"
"It's Abbadon." She answers. "Can you show me the way back?"
Her eyes filled with fresh tears as she noticed Lucifer's delay in responding and he was quick to mutter a positive response, offering his hand for the girl to hold as they walked towards civilization again. Suddenly he is unable to remember why he is even in that forest in the middle of the night, the feeling of holding a hand as small as his is strangely familiar and when Lucifer brings the girl home, explaining the situation to her parents and he finally goes back to his own house all he thinks about is seeing what his brothers are up to.
Legend says that he gave each of them a hug and a kiss good night on the forehead, but if you ask about it they'll all say it's a lie.
..
Mammon
It is quoted several times that Mammon gets along well with children and this is true, although he hides his feelings he is unable to hide every meaning behind his gestures. And frankly he's the best brother a kid could ask for, he's the type who would let the kid eat ice cream for breakfast and dinner, let the kid sleep late and give the kid all the homework answers, but beware of this, he may give wrong answers without realizing it. Besides, he has a perfect creativity to invent various games to play with the child.
So when he's on his way home from a photo shoot that would definitely make the covers of Majolish, Mammon is able to hear a child's loud, exaggerated crying. At first he is startled and thinks it is a ghost, looking from one side to the other and seeing nothing but the rusty old swings and seesaws on the playground. But then his eyes noticed a restless movement and the closer he got, after building his courage, the more he realized that this sound was coming from a child. He kneels beside the boy and pats his shoulders to calm him down, Mammon wipes his tears away with great care as if he were one of his younger brothers and then he smiles.
“There's no need to be scared,” He says, standing up and offering the boy his hand to do the same. “After all, The Great Mammon is here to protect ya and show ya the way back. Where do ya live, brat?”
But the boy is still crying. And Mammon does what he does best, he tells jokes, stories and makes faces that slowly result in the boy laughing at him. It was what he wanted. Having the young demon's attention, Mammon points the way to the lighted path and starts walking, the young demon following hesitantly.
The Avatar of Greed continues to tell his brave stories against strange creatures and how he is so powerful he could join the royal guard, hearing the boy laugh. And when he finally finds the child's parents, Mammon gives the boy a shove to encourage him on his way, ruffling his hair and letting out a laugh. He reminded him so much of his younger brothers, maybe he should spend time with them and MC. He almost missed holding their little hands and hearing their high-pitched voices. If he was lucky he could dream of it when he went to sleep that night.
..
Levi
This awkward demon just left his room to buy games or go to anime events, always so happy to get new action figures or dakimakuras. But today there's something different and that comes from the fact that the path he takes to go home, always so empty and quiet, is the place where today he finds a lost child. Levi is not a bad demon, but he is terrible at comforting people who are crying or in help situations, especially children. He doesn't know how to act and he doesn't know if he should ask what a kid was doing late at night on Devildom Street.
It wasn't like anything bad was going to happen, Devildom is relatively safe. Yet he is not able to reassure himself that a young demon may be in trouble and need help, then he marches over to the child and makes a sound in his throat as if to announce his presence, his hesitant hands resting on the child's shoulders as he watches them.
“I was passing by and, um, I think you noticed that. I am here. Yeah, well, um... do you need help?”
It's really disastrous to see the kid and Levi interacting, they're both not knowing what to do or say. Finally, however, he can remember how one of the protagonists of the anime he watches acted when he found a lost child and Levi kneels down to be at the same height as the child, trying to look for bruises and after he realizes that everything is fine, Levi offers a smile.
“It's okay, I need you to be strong now. Can you do this for me?” The child nods, holding Levi's offered hand and looking from side to side. The assurance that the avatar of envy's voice conveys is refreshing, with a certainty the child could not dispute. “Can you tell me if you remember any point that can serve as a reference for us to find the way to your house? The name of a street, a store, anything will do.”
No matter how late it is and no matter if the child lives on the other side of Devildom, Levi is willing to take them there in person. Plus apparently he's good at dealing with kids because he had so much fun with the little one, telling them about his games and sleeves. He found himself inviting the child to the House of Lamentation shortly after he dropped the child over at their house.
Man... If he could make friends that easily, Levi could have more friends to play with.
..
Satan
Returning from a book club meeting in the RAD, Satan finds a lost child asking for help from the demons passing by on the street. Some demons didn't have much time to spend helping a mere child and others were just plain rude, but Satan sympathized with the young boy. He also got lost in those mysterious streets and roads of Devildom when he was younger and liked to explore, to know more about that place.
Then he approached the young demon with a slight smile. He sat next to the child and the boy looked at him suspiciously that he wouldn't help either. That he would also mock him and crossed his arms over his chest, hiding a giant pout in his lips.
But Satan was better than that.
"It's pretty easy to get lost here if you don't pay attention to where you're going and they all don't have much empathy, the older ones especially." He says, watching the demons come and go, feeling dizzy just watching that sea of people walking through the busiest streets in hell. "But if you still need help, I'm here."
“I was going to Majolish with my sister and got lost. Do you know the way there?”
Satan nods and offers his hand for the younger demon to hold, explaining about the existing shortcuts that could take him anywhere in Devildom. He is so gentle, speaking calmly and dialoguing about any subject that comes up with the child, even talking about the book he carries and how good it is to have knowledge. And when they arrive at their destination, Satan smiles and lets the boy into the store, keeping an eye on him until he's sure he's found his sister.
The look of longing and comfort that the younger demon's eyes conveyed to him reached like waves in his heart, making him yearn to spend more time with his brothers, even though he found them noisy and unbearable who did silly pranks most of the time.
🖼️ Anon requested for a headcanon on how the brothers (+ the secondary characters) would react to a child Mc
🖼️ A/N: This headcanon has become gigantic. But the concept of a child MC was so cute that I had so much to explore. And since it wasn't specified in the request, I took the liberty of imagining a child of about 7 or 8 years old, it's still open to interpretation. I only wrote the brothers, otherwise it would get even bigger. Secondary characters will be posted soon. Thank you for asking, dear anon. Hope you like it~
If I have any spelling mistakes it's Tumblr's fault, it keeps eating my drafts and erasing my progress
⠀⠀⠀
A plan was made to unite the three kingdoms. A plan that consisted of bringing two human students and two angel students to Devildom and making them coexist, respect differences and form bonds. And little by little the students arrived from their respective worlds. Luke and Simeon came first, so bright and ethereal that they outshined Devildom's artificial moonlight, the little angel hiding behind Simeon and looking at everyone in fear despite trying to look strong. They listened to everything Diavolo and Lucifer had to say before being guided by Barbatos to Purgatory Hall.
Next came the great and mighty sorcerer, King Solomon the Wise. With his shrewdness and sarcasm he seemed quite relaxed at the thought of spending a year surrounded by demons, two angels and another human. He still had enough audacity to flirt with Asmo before deciding to venture into Devildom alone, but it wasn't like he wasn't already known there.
And finally the last student. The most troubled student who should be protected; for this one knew nothing of demons or magic and could not protect themself. Only when they finally looked at the little human in the meeting room, they all realized it wouldn't be that simple. It was a child! A human child!
⠀⠀⠀
Lucifer
He's so surprised seeing you for the first time, little tears running down your eyes as you realize you're no longer in the comfort of your home. The toy in your hand is forgotten when you start taking fearful steps backwards, trying to get away from this strange person in front of you. And Lucifer couldn't be more confused, he acts almost automatically, trying to soothe you with whispers and comforting words but the expression on his face only makes you cry more.
He should have checked the information more seriously rather than actually picking up the file that had landed on his feet. And of course, he can already predict the headache he'll have because you're just a kid with no idea what's going on, a kid forced to live for a year among creatures that could easily kill you. But he will make sure that doesn't happen.
Maybe it's because of your big doe-eyes and chubby cheeks or your high-pitched voice, but he's actually very gentle and soft with you because you remind him of his brothers as kids. You bring out the best in him and he doesn't even realize it. But he's so much more true to people and his feelings when you're around.
He teases you about your height just like he teases Luke.
Lucifer has serious doubts whether it is wise to let Mammon be your guide, but eventually he gives up. You seem to like the second brother, maybe it's because he's funny and good with kids. But Lucifer is proud every time you go to him for help with your homework or just to talk.
He's a busy demon, but he can easily be found by going to your tea parties or playing with you. But he will deny it to death if one of his brothers sees this. And his office is full of stuffed animals and he even has a small table next to his so you can sit and study, play or sit down to keep him company.
He is your new father. He tells you he's proud of every little achievement and offers good hugs. Lucifer takes you out to eat at Ristorante six every now and then to celebrate something important.
It is customary for him to put you to bed and cover you with a warm blanket, kissing your forehead. Lucifer once said good night son/daughter, but it was so low that you didn't hear or, if you did, you didn't say anything.
Although he is protective of you, he also values proper behavior. So yeah, if you're going to play a prank on someone at least don't get caught. He can't do much other than give a lecture and a disappointed look. Usually the last one affected you the most and made you think.
Diavolo and Barbatos tease him about how he really looks like your father, always reminding you to eat and leaving presents in your room or saying how it is not good to use D.D.D all day instead of exercising a little.
So when it's time to go back to the human world and you're about to go home, he's the most affected. It's weird for him not to have you in his office anymore or not hear your voice. He always finds himself looking at the stuffed animal you loved the most and that you gave him. His heart is melting.
⠀
Mammon
Mammon is amazing with kids because they are sincere with their emotions and thoughts, because they don't judge him like his brothers. Even so he's a little hesitant to take care of you, you're so small and fragile. He doesn't know how to react but he's trying his best.
Because he's spontaneous and funny, you might not be so scared around him. And Mammon always manages to make you laugh with his idiocies and stories. Sometimes he can act like he doesn't care but he cares a lot about you. He always makes jokes when he notices you're almost crying from homesickness.
You two have inside jokes and a secret handshake.
You are still the most responsible person among you. This demon has to hold your hand as he walks through the corridors of the RAD, otherwise he might forget you exist. But don't worry because he'll notice in a few seconds that your little steps aren't following him and that you're no longer responding.
He doesn't want to admit it, but he gets attached to you very quickly. You are adorable and he would love to pinch those chubby cheeks. But he will refuse to do that because of his tsundere tendencies.
He's already taken you on a treasure hunt somewhere in Devildom, even though he knows there's no treasure, just to see you having fun and analyzing the map. But if there's a real treasure, he'll give it to you to be a keepsake for you.
Always, always buy you gifts. Did you get a good grade on your test? He gives you a teddy bear. Have you made a new friend? He takes you out for ice cream. Did you manage to overcome any difficulties? He gives you a big hug and anything you want. He just wants to see you smile and laugh, it's such a beautiful sound.
The two of you were on the covers of a magazine once and now everywhere you go the demons start pointing and making comments about how cute you are. Some of them think you are Mammon's child.
He lets you play with his crows and feed them.
⠀⠀⠀
Leviathan
He met you when he went to collect the money Mammon owed him. And the first thing he thinks is that he wants you as far away from his room as possible. He doesn't want you to break, destroy, damage or touch the precious items he possesses. All items in his room are sacred and revered as such.
He thinks you are the epitome of cuteness, he even knows the characters that would be a good option for you to cosplay. He definitely has a cosplay for the two of you to match.
The kind of person you would make a playlist with. Levi knows many types of music and will make a playlist for each situation. For when you are happy, sad, angry, sick, bored, to give you inspiration.
When the initial awkwardness and uncertainty finally leave him and he starts to realize he can keep talking about his animes, Levi comes to see you as a close friend. And at some point he invites you to play and watch anime, but they are all appropriate for your age. Although he makes you play and watch anime with him sometimes, he always remembers to put you to bed at the proper times.
He once sang the opening of TSL to put you to sleep.
Sleepovers after you've done your homework. Maybe, just maybe Levi has given you the homework answers when you asked. He can't deny you anything when you're so adorable.
You guys always make a pillow fort, where you spend a lot of time reading sleeves, debating the strongest characters in anime and eating candy. Sometimes Beel drops by to eat sweets too. And the three of you always end up sleeping in the comfort of the fort.
Your conversations are so random and you understand each other so well that he thinks of you as a best friend from the start. You guys have a lot of inside jokes, create stories together and sing a lot of anime songs when it's karaoke night.
Your contact name is Henry. And sometimes he calls you Henry too. He almost cried the first time you called him Lord of Shadows.
One hundred percent he's the best brother to go to when you're bored or want to talk about your passions. He also offers the best hugs.
⠀⠀⠀
Satan
Little human. That's what you represent to him; a little human who is unaware of all the wisdom that life still has to offer. A scared little human. He feels sorry for you. And then he feels something akin to compassion. You are alone in a room full of strange people claiming to be demons, it would scare any human. You don't know magic and have to depend on someone to protect you. He has serious doubts if Mammon is capable of protecting you.
You are adorable, always asking questions and being childish. It's funny to watch. He doesn't mind spending time with you because you're better company than his brothers, always listening to him talk about anything and giving your honest opinion on any subject.
In fact, he watches and analyzes you to learn more about a child's psyche, after all he also always wants to learn more about anything. And if he notices you're having a problem in Devildom or the human world, he'll be the quickest to act and try to figure out what the problem is. Despite his cruel and sometimes sadistic nature, Satan still protects you and wishes you well.
When you take the same classes, he always asks you to sit with him and helps you with the lessons you don't understand. Also, he keeps bullies away from you with just one look. But if the demon tries to attack you or mock you in his presence, Satan will ensure that this demon is never seen again :)
He loves reading stories to you. He is the best narrator and manages to make the dialogues funnier with the voices he imitates. Once Lucifer caught him reading to you and can't help but laugh, Satan is so serious and different to his brothers that the sight is certainly amazing to the beholder. Satan tried to curse his brother, his face red with embarrassment but we know it didn't work. Now he always reads to you in your room or his room.
Books may vary. Fantasy, mystery and if you like it, horror. And movie nights always happen, although he complains if the movie in question was based on a book because they always change a detail or take away a crucial moment from a character, something like that.
Without a doubt, he has already taken you to a cat cafe where you two ate cake and drank tea/coffee and played with the kittens. He probably took a lot of pictures and recorded you playing with cats as a way of remembering.
And sure enough, you're his favorite human. You helped him so much even if you didn't realize it, with you around he's always calm and at peace.
⠀⠀⠀
Asmodeus
He doesn't really care that you're a child. Certainly you are very energetic, like to run and jump and scream and don't care too much about the rules that Lucifer imposes. But on the other hand, you're so little. You are like a doll. Your hair is so soft and your eyes are so expressive. Asmodeus ardently desires to dress you in the most beautiful children's clothes and comb your hair.
He calls you Doll. Or any other cute nickname.
Definitely the kind of person who greets you with two kisses on the cheek and a tight hug.
He's been clingy and attached to you from day one, wanting to keep you around because of your sweet voice. You two walk around the RAD with your pinkies intertwined, ignoring an outraged Mammon who has to chase after you two.
The two of you have a skin care routine where you eat something healthy and talk freely about what you've got stuck in your head. Asmo loves to hear you talk about things that happen in the human world, about intrigues and fights, but also about what you like to do and about your achievements or anything you want to tell him.
You're the only person he turns to when he's not having a good day, when he wakes up and can't tell if the person his mirror reflects is him for real or just someone the demons want to idealize and adore. He usually lays his head on your small shoulder and listens to everything you have to say. He's always happy after that.
He loves playing with you. Whether it's attending your tea party or just participating in a pillow fight. Just don't hit him in the face and he's fine with that.
He'll definitely ask you to do your makeup and be pouting until you let him. He teaches you all his tricks and tips to have a perfect makeup, as well as how to do your hair and choose the best clothes. After all you are the most beautiful person in all of Devildom, after him of course. You are his little star.
His fans love you. And you always wear matching clothes and take a lot of pictures that end up on Devilgram, with lots of positive and cute comments that make you both laugh.
He is the person you can talk to about your feelings and he always talks about how they are valid so that you don't suppress them and end some emotional block. He also offers the best advice when you're going through a difficult time or just went after him because of a nightmare, anyway you always end up with your head on his chest and feel him patting your head that puts you to sleep in a few seconds.
He takes you on random picnics or outings when he feels like it. He's incredibly spontaneous about it and takes thousands of photos to keep as a keepsake.
He may seem like the weakest among his brothers, but he always keeps an eye on you and is there to protect you if things get bad.
⠀⠀⠀
Beelzebub
Ordinary humans are already small around Beel, so he really thinks you're a plush human, if there's such a thing. You're so small you can't even reach his waist. But your size awakens something inside him. He doesn't know what he's feeling, he just knows he wants to be by your side to protect you.
As you are very small, he thinks it is because you eat very little so he shares his food with you. Beel always makes you eat healthy and nutritious things, vegetables and human fruits, but he also lets you eat sweets, snacks and junk food in general.
Beel knows that exercises can be boring, but he takes you to exercise with him and corrects the postures that are incorrect. Squats, bends, stretches, you do a little bit of everything.
He likes to think of him as your protector. Beel is always there when you need it or when you want to chat. And he likes you a lot because you see him for who he really is instead of just seeing someone who just eats all the time.
He may look scary, but he's the kind of person who pushes you higher on the swing or follows you on the seesaw. He can't help it, he's having fun and you're someone whose smile he loves to see, even though he never told you.
He loves playing tag and hide and seek with you. The two of you have a lot of fun playing in the House of Lamention because it's a huge place and offers so many places for you to hide and dodge it. But know that when he catches you or gets tired, it's game over, he'll put you on his shoulders and take you to the living room so you can rest.
Surely he'll give a piggyback ride if you ask.
He always helps you when it's your turn to cook, making sure you don't cut yourself with a knife or burn yourself with oil. He's so preoccupied running around that he doesn't even have time to get one of the ingredients to eat.
You, he and Belphie have the best and most varied programs. Pillow fights, movie nights, board games and more.
⠀⠀⠀
Belphegor
A child. He wants humans to die but he cannot kill a child. It would be an injustice when you can barely reach his waist. You don't even know how to pronounce his name properly.
He can induce you to have terrible nightmares, making you stay up at night to hear his whispers asking for help. He's hoping you'll be curious enough to go after the source of the noise so you'll be able to climb those stairs. And he'll hate you a little more if you run away and seek refuge with one of his brothers instead of going up to the attic and finding out who's there. If this scenario happens then he has no option but to remain silent for now, otherwise it will reach Lucifer's ears and he will increase the security of the attic.
But if you listen to him, help him and follow his plan, believing his lies, you will make him rethink his plans and his baseless hatred. You are a weak child with pointy teeth that can bite his shins, you are incapable of killing someone, you are innocent, and when he is finally free of his confinement he will hug you with relief. But he will remain neutral and indifferent to you most of the time.
But little by little, he starts to think highly of you because you were brave enough to face Lucifer. Even Beel likes to spend time with you. So he wants that too. He wants to know why everyone loves you and loves your presence, he wants to feel what they feel, he wants to know why they are able to smile when you show up, he wants to know everything.
A part of him recognizes that you are the last part of Lilith that still lives, so he desperately wants to protect you. For you and his sister to survive.
He doesn't know how to approach people, so he takes chances he sees are good enough. Calling you to spend time in the planetarium and talking about the stars and their curiosities, pointing to the constellations. He's so calm he might end up taking a nap while he's talking.
Cute lazy boy here would tempt you to sleep more for sure, you are like a teddy bear he loves to squeeze and tickle. But if you convince him to get up, then you'll hear him complaining sarcastically for hours.
You two skip class and go out for some adventure on the streets of RAD. Belphie has so much to show you and he knows the quietest places to take you so you can talk in peace without his brothers interrupting you. But somehow Lucifer always seems to know where you guys are because he always shows up there to lecture you both.
I feel like he's the kind of person who would show you a photo album while telling the stories behind each of the photos.
In summer, you sleep in the garden surrounded by the flowers and the lighted sky of Devildom. He likes these moments because he can put his thoughts in order and tell you about everything, about his brothers and their most shameful situations, about their fall, about the Celestial Realm, about the angels, about the differences there and from Devildom. And listening to his curious comments and feeling your fingers massaging his head is like real peace, it's so nice to have someone who listens to him without judging him.
He's one of the most affected when you leave, promising to call or text you almost every day.
🌺 Notes: Part one can be found here. It's my first time writing Diavolo, so maybe he's a bit oc. I've also revised but small grammatical errors can always occur, sorry in advance. Anyway, I hope you like it :D

Chapter Two: A deal with the devil
Sometimes fate can be behind the bad days. Sometimes it can be bringing a tragedy or a blessing on people. And it can only sometimes be bringing the end of a story. He neither knew nor had the answers to determine what his case was, but he knew that regardless of that, he was ready to accept his fate without question. There was nothing to be done or changed, he did what he did because he believed he was right and would accept any punishment that was given him by his Father. Though a part of his chest burned knowing he could be cast out of the Celestial Realm, just as she was, and, who could never see the faces of all her brothers or hear their voices. He didn't know if he would be able to live without it.
With the little light that came from a torch suspended the polished stone walls, he watched the shadows of the angels guarding the exit of the dungeon where he had been held awaiting his trial. The muffled voices of the angels came and went as the smell of wine hung in the air, although he found everything they said useless at the time he was trying to gather as much information as he could store in his head; in a lost hope that he would be forgiven for everything. Grief and guilt descended on his youthful heart, he was alone. Alone because he alienated everyone in exchange for his ideals. Alone because he went with what he believed instead of wondering if he was even right. Alone in that cell for who knows how long, with his foul thoughts and memories further poisoning his failing mind.
And then he heard a voice.
"Father says we're going to start his judgment." Lucifer muttered to the angels, in a tone so hurt he almost burst into tears. His brother was accompanied by Michael and Raphael, and his hard features and tense gestures proved that he was dealing with a great dilemma inside his own mind. Lucifer took a silver key from his pocket and walked to the cell with heavy steps, looking anywhere but at the prisoner who resided there, sitting on the cold floor of the cell. His six pairs of wings fluttered as he reached out to help his brother to his feet. "It is time for your judgment, Hesperus, Nightstar. May the Father grant you mercy."
"So be it." Answered Hesperus as low as his brother. Beside him, everyone contemplated what could be a last sight of them together. A perfect contrast between the serious features that graced the twin faces, the only thing that set them apart was Hesperus's curly white hair, which took on a reddish hue in the torchlight. Michael and Raphael greeted him with the same angelic enthusiasm as always, patting his shoulders affectionately as they walked across the stone floor. The two archangels were more optimistic than the sun itself, and the sound of their laughter almost made Hesperus perk up.
"How... How are our brothers doing?" He asked.
"Hopeful. And that's good, hope is good!" Michael said excitedly, leading them off the mountain where they held the young angel. And the sun shone so bright on them; like an omen, like a dreamy breath. Hesperus let the light settle into his body and pass through him, taking away all his negative thoughts. He would need this.
The big, strong white wings lifted him off the ground as he took to the air with the other angels. The light wind slapped them as they flew over the shore below the mountain, the scent of the salt air leaving a mark on Hesperus's mind. It was such a pure smell, so good. And the water was so clear and crystal clear that he could see the fish swimming and jumping, looking at them with the same love and care as always. The archangel dropped both hands into the cold water as if he needed reassurance that this was all not a dream. That his fate was soon to be decided. But his heart and soul knew. He always knew what awaited him; he was Hesperus, the Nightstar, responsible for weaving the timelines.
The path was silent, stormy, but at last they curved through the pearl forests and the Garden of Knowledge until they came to a stop at a great white arch that had carved angelic chants in honor of the Creator on the marble, who had sat upon the throne of light. Hesperus approached the chorus of sad, singing voices. The harmonious melody grew. The light, heat and warm feelings were enough to make him kneel before his Father, Creator and God, despite not daring to look up - he would not see anything at all, even angels could not look directly at him. There were hundreds of angels filling the place with a lustrous eagerness, whispering when the music ceased if anything like that had ever happened. If any angel had ever fallen before the soon-to-be doomed Archangel.
Hesperus looked at each of his brothers, squeezing the tears in his white eyes. Mammon and Levi hid behind Lucifer as if he was going to protect them from something bad. Asmo did his best to keep Lilith, Beel and Belphie from crying because it was capable of the Jewel of Heaven crying too, if his younger brothers did. And then the Night Star looked at his twin brother and he conveyed everything he felt to him with his gaze. And he lowered his head.
"Hesperus, Star of the Night!" The scribe's voice caught everyone's attention, casting a shadow over the hearts of everyone present. Metatron, the scribe, unrolled a roll of parchment and proceeded to read aloud each of the archangel's misdeeds to all his brothers and to his Father, offering him a wistful smile as soon as he was finished.
Night Star tried to defend himself, even though he knew it would be of little use. His whole soul screamed guilty. But it was good to have hope. And suddenly, he was unable to move and speak. And the ground under their feet began to blacken and the green plains above them trembled. The birdsong stopped. And the sun covered itself through dark, angry clouds, and when Hesperus looked up again he saw no longer the throne or the angels, nor his brothers. But he was looking at a child, a girl so much like him that he almost swore he was seeing the future. And she looked back at him, surprised, as if she didn't believe he could see her.
"Who are you?" the girl asked. A sweet voice but softly deceptive as he's heard so many voices. She didn't seem afraid of him, nor did she seem surprised at the sight of his glorious wings or the halo above his head.
And he didn't know how to react.
"Where are we?" Hesperus asked, walking over to the children's room and completely broken and dirty. He looked around. Shards of glass on the floor and a door that was falling off its frame, dust everywhere, causing the archangel to sneeze. The walls were faded and the floors were puffed out, very close to exploding at any moment. And the furniture was taken by termites and some insects moving freely on the ground. But the girl didn't seem to mind that, even though there was a beetle over her head. "What happened here?"
"I don't know what you're saying." She replied, shaking her head from side to side in confusion. "Who are you?"
Hesperus looked into her eyes, the same white eyes he had. And he found that he could no longer remember who he was or what, or why he was so worried, his mind clouded with images of his brothers and lost memories that he slowly began to forget as he fell to his knees. And when he became unable to get up, the girl took his hand and lay down beside him on the floor.
"Everything is fine." She said, mysteriously. "It's all over."
"Where are we?" But Hesperus didn't hear any answer, even though he saw the girl's lips move. And suddenly, everything went dark.
Morgana woke up, startled. The heat wrapped around her body making her want to go back to sleep, but she didn't know if she would do it again. She was dreaming again of someone she had never seen or known, even though it was all so real she could almost mourn the loss of her freedom with the poor archangel. Those dreams always happened close to a near-death experience, like the one she almost suffered but she never knew if it was a form of refuge that her mind made by creating someone for her or if it was someone real and a real event. She has dreamed that dream many times and they all always turned out different. But that girl, those angels and Hesperus remained the same even in the strangest scenarios.
"Good morning, Sleeping beauty" An excited voice caught the girl's attention and she finally realized that there was a demon sitting beside her bed, but its eyes were as warm as the sun and he didn't look like he would hurt her. ", we almost lost you once. How do you feel?"
Morgana looked at him, but it took her a moment to really understand what he was saying. His accent was unfamiliar, like the accent of every demon she'd ever heard but he was more charming than the others.
"I am fine," She muttered under her breath, almost voiceless. The members still ached from the day before. "where am I?"
The demon leaned towards the girl and placed his hand on her forehead, smiling so calmly that she too felt herself relax. He was different from the others, his voice was serene and his eyes were so sincere she couldn't imagine him deceiving her. He examined her with some quick spells and then wrote them down on a clipboard, offering her a bottle of water. "You are in the home of demons, Devildom. A place without sun and where demons hunt the poor souls that roam around."
He smiled showing his pointy teeth. But she felt no evil intent coming from him.
"Devildom, huh?" Morgana thought aloud, nervously playing with her fingers. She then looked from side to side looking for Toby, but all her eyes found was a ridiculously decorated children's room in red and gold. Even the stuffed toys at the foot of the bed were somehow red or gold. She must have looked confused because the demon beside her laughed loud enough to draw her attention back to him.
"What's your name, child?" He asked her, arranging her hair behind her ear as carefully as before. "If you don't want to tell me, I can keep calling you Sleeping Beauty.” He shrugged.
Morgana smirked, almost laughing at the demon's spontaneous way. It was the first time she had met someone like that and she was having fun, however, she also knew that demons were great masters of manipulation and the one in front of her shouldn't be any different. The girl focused on the window outside and how everything was so dark, how big black clouds carried heavy rain. She saw nothing but that, for she thought she was in some tall tower in what looked like the inside of a castle. And when she turned to look at the demon, she decided not to respond to him.
She didn't have a name.
"Sleeping beauty then. It's even a beautiful name for a beautiful child." He said, pulling out a pocket watch from the tailcoat he was wearing and looking at the time. His gestures were slow, calm, and he was smiling like he was hearing a good joke. "I'll let the prince know you're awake and I'll have someone bring you something to eat. Try not to move too much."
She watched him go, not reacting.
The unusual yellow eyes never left her mind, nor would she forget the way his dark hair framed his young, tan face. Or how imposing he became wearing that dark tailcoat. She actually thought he was a weird demon, but she would come to think of him as a normal one when she met the lively, childish prince.
"Morg! Morg!" Toby yelled, but the girl didn't see him anywhere. "Up here!"
Morgana found it hanging from one of the chandeliers and it was much more visible than before. The red lights illuminated her dark skin and gray hair well. She almost felt like she could get out of that bed and hug him, though she held back from the pain that still gripped her. Toby floated to the floor and sat in the chair once occupied by the demon. "You slept for days, you carefree idiot. I was so worried about the meds they forced you to drink and the spells they cast on you. I was almost screaming in the hallways to see if anyone could hear me but everyone keeps ignoring me."
"Or they can't see you."
But the hypothesis didn't make sense. Ghosts were dead spirits and as such demons and angels could see them wandering around without a body and they could feel their intentions, their energies. The girl knew they had already seen him wandering around, all the magic around the castle reminded her of how the prince of Devildom or any other court demon was more powerful than both.
"Of course they can," Toby insisted in a high-pitched, childish tone, but he suddenly crossed his arms with irritation on his face. "That insufferable one you call brother is here too. But I can't feel his presence no matter how much I wander around the castle."
"B? Is our brother B here?" Morgana almost jumped in surprise. She hadn't expected one of her brothers to have allied with demons, though it was no surprise to her that the possibility had always existed. The demons had reached out to her family in times of need and had been there for them when the angels turned their backs and called them a freak of nature. "You saw him? Did you feel his magic?"
"Um, he's your brother. Totally your brother." The ghost's features darkened and his voice reverberated far more angrily than before, but he wasn't angry at his sister, oh no, he was angry at the innocence and kindness that still remained in her heart. The ghost bit the inside of his cheek to keep from saying something he shouldn't. "And your unworthy traitor brother's magic was everywhere, especially in the throne room. What are you going to do with that information? By the way, what are you going to do now?"
Morgana pondered a second. There weren't many options to follow since she didn't know how to get out of Devildom so she would stay there to talk to the prince and maybe look for B. She wanted to know how her older brother was doing and why he had abandoned the war in such a cowardly way. There was still a lot to discover, many benefits she could gain if she managed to ingratiate herself with the Prince of Devildom. But she had to be careful, she had to adapt to the new scenario that involved her until she knew what they would do to her, after all she still had a bad reputation to uphold.
A witch; that's what they called her. And she really was a witch with great powers. The pills her Lord gave her ensured that she was the best of the best, in addition to expanding her physical capabilities to the limit it gave her additional magic, even though her body couldn't take it. But it was understandable. It strained her body too much. It was like forcing a sieve to contain aggressively flowing water, it was impossible, painful and in the long run, she would be killed by it.
"I'm not the one making the decisions, Toby," Morgana let out a long, rueful sigh, her fingers making patterns on the soft, smooth cover. The pout on her lips betrayed her displeasure with the situation, she hated not having control over the situation and hated even more not knowing what she was dealing with. It was by no means unknown to be at a huge disadvantage on missions, but she usually managed to turn against common humans and sorcerers. Fighting low-level or medium-level demons was already proving a challenge and she was surprised whenever she took one down, but even she could see her own limits. She wouldn't be able to kill or even hurt the demon who had been with her, perhaps the demon prince if she felt the need. "anyway, I'm out of Cosmos like you wanted."
"Right from the skillet to the fire, eh?" Toby laughed. But there was a weight on his childish shoulders that he shouldn't carry even after his death, his eyes were sad just like his sister's. And as he lay down beside her when he felt too tired to continue his little act, Morgaine could see how the years of protecting her were wearing him out and he closed his eyes to rest his mind. She couldn't help but feel guilty. If only she had ceded him to the reaper's arms when the last spark of life left him, perhaps he was in some flowery field, sleeping forever. "Don't look at me like that," he muttered groggily.
"Like this?” She looked up at him, putting her hand over his, even though she felt nothing but something cold touch her fingers. "You're pretty easy to read, you know?" He teased, chuckling. "You're not guilty of that."
But her thoughts and arguments were cut short by a timid knock on the door and the grim person who passed her with a cart full of tasty foods. The butler put the food on a table and poured hot tea, seeming to laugh when he heard a rumble of hunger coming from the girl's belly. And while he worked she eyed him suspiciously, analyzing him, as if she had seen him somewhere before, but she shrugged and looked at the remedies offered to her with great suspicion.
"What are they?" She looked at him suspiciously.
"Medicines." The demon replied, simplistic. "Take the blue and then the red."
"I don't need them!" Morgana frowned. "I feel good."
"The doctor said you need to take it with or without pain to get completely better." He shook the bottle containing the medicine to the girl and offered her a full glass of water. But the girl didn't believe him and he saw it clearly.
"Drink you first.” She pushed the bottle back.
"I'm not the one who's sick." The demon sighed, looking at her like she was a cranky child that was exactly what she was at that moment. "It will make you feel good, and it tastes like strawberry."
"I said I'm fine." She insisted again, her voice slurred and sat back down. "And I don't like strawberries either, they're too sour."
Morgana suppressed a giggle as the demon in front of her sighed heavily, without the least bit of patience. Their fingers making the glass of water tremble over his fingers from the force exerted. In contrast, she heard a very jovial laugh reach her ears and then she glimpsed a tall, red-haired, dark-skinned demon. Such great energy filled him that it was like being bathed in strong sunlight and his smile was so bright and contagious that she felt like she was smiling too, feeling the same calm that she remembered feeling the day before. The prince, she deduced on account of the red clothes and embroidered with gold thread, took the medicine bottle from his butler's hands, seeming to scold him with a single look. "It's okay if you don't want to drink, I understand," he muttered with a huge smile. "but you'll find you're pretty weak when you get up. There were many substances in your body that we had to remove and recreate, so it would be advisable if you drink it even if you don't like the taste. And it's not poisoned like you think."
Morgana was unable to formulate an answer because that was exactly what she was thinking. So she first took the blue pill and analyzed it still under the demon's careful eyes, deciding to trust her own intuition she drank it and repeated the process with the red pill. The girl didn't feel any different in the first few seconds, but soon a force hit her and her entire body. Morgana felt heavy, tired and she had to lie down. It wasn't like anything she'd ever felt, but a great deal of sleepiness.
"Now what should I call you, little one?" He asked, arranging the cover so that it kept her warm and comfortable. Diavolo seemed reassured about the girl's suspicious gaze on him, but only because she wasn't inside the old prince's messy head. There were so many doubts swirling, screaming in the demon's mind that she would have been lost if she'd tried to look into his mind. However, looking into the girl's pearly eyes made him feel right about what he had done.
It was no secret that Diavolo found himself curious about her because of the rumors that swirled around the demonic world, about a girl trained to hunt demons, small, doll-like in her beauty, but as powerful as Merlin was. It wasn't wise to have brought her there, but he knew that what she did was for some reason. He wasn't a monster, he wouldn't throw her in the dungeon for rumors, but he also knew well that the consequences of her actions could negatively impact Devildom. However, he hoped it didn't go to the extreme. He hadn't even asked Barbatos to look into the future because he would give her the respect and benefit of the doubt. He counted on her being smart enough to know she had no choice but to tell him what had happened. He was still the prince duty-bound to protect his homeland, though he yearned to make demons and humans coexist.
"What am I supposed to call you?" Diavolo asked, wanting to make her feel comfortable with him instead of instilling fear in her heart. He knew just by looking that there were so many feelings trapped inside those eyes that he couldn't help but pity the young girl, looking at her was like looking into a mirror because he'd had those same eyes before and and secretly he knew he still had them.
"What do you want to call me?" She snapped. Her voice was so low he could barely distinguish it from a mere howl in the wind. "I don't have a name at the same time they gave me several names. Theia, Aurora, Dawn, Abner, Anwar, Jomei, Lucian, Epifanio, Alina, I could go on for hours. But my current name is Morgana LeFay."
"And they're all related to light, how lovely." The demon prince smiled, drinking the tea that had been given to him by his silent, expressionless butler. "Your current name means Great Brightness, it suits you. There's a fire I see burning fiercely inside you." He pointed to her heart with impressive calm.
"He's nothing like I imagined.” Toby whispered to his sister, who nodded discreetly to his words. The prince was certainly a great mystery to them, all his gestures were extremely calculated and meticulous and yet with such delicacy that it made no sense. But again, they couldn't have known every aspect of the demons. "Like, he looks like a big, sly teddy bear with these golden eyes watching every move you make." Toby took a chance and waved a hand in front of the demon, unsure of how he would react if he was listening to him speak.
"I am the future king of Devildom, Diavolo. It's a pleasure to meet you, Morgana." The girl nodded, looking at his hand with an arched eyebrow. But when she realized he wouldn't hurt her, she squeezed his hand lightly and smiled. "I would like to apologize for the inconvenience my demons have caused. I promise no harm will come to you because you have my protection."
"Too pretty words for someone you've met just now." The girl laughed, playing with her own fingers in order to look calmer. However, her entire body posture screamed apprehension. "Please ask me what you want to ask. I promise not to lie, but it's not like I can. I would recognize those eyes from afar."
The prince looked at her in surprise. It wasn't often that someone mentioned or knew the origin of his eyes, so he stared at her for a good few minutes and thought about what to ask first. "I wanted to know a little bit about what happened before your encounter with the demons, why and who it was that summoned me. I assume you know how this could affect my world, yes?" Morgana nodded, moving her hands with renewed nervousness. She no longer looked at the prince with the same intensity as before, turning her face to the rainy sky.
"It was my lord who did all this. He does it every year, you know, summoning demons to see how I or others have evolved with magic, although I don't agree or follow him because I want or believe in his ideals. And he works for an organization called Cosmos." Morgana paused for a moment to watch the strange thunder of Devildom falling outside. It was fascinating. Lights danced over a starlit floor and she wanted to go there for a better look. It was rare to have the opportunity, however.
"Do you know anything else about Cosmos?" He asked, sipping his tea and enjoying the warm liquid that seemed to warm even his body. "What was going on there?"
Morgana moved her head to find Diavolo's eyes glued to her small, slender form as she cocked her head to the side as if she heard something - it was Toby muttering. "I don't have much to offer you, I don't know who is behind Cosmos or its goals. But they sheltered the kids who had nowhere to go and made them do terrible things. There were even rumors of bloody experiments, ahem, if you understand me."
"I understand." He muttered, looking at the girl who seemed to get lost among the food laid out in front of her. "Barbatos, serve her please."
The butler moved so fast and perfect, placing a tray of toast, fruit and hot tea over the girl's legs and helping her to a seat, arranging her pillows so she was still comfortable.
She picked up her cup with great suspicion and analyzed the liquid, the smell, then she drank it and found it delicious. She drank the rest of her tea in one big gulp and licked her lips so no drop escaped. "Do you want to ask me something?" She muttered, wiping the corner of her mouth with the sleeves of her nightgown. Diavolo almost laughed at her lack of courtesy, taking one of the human candies and looking at it for long minutes, thinking of all the information he'd gleaned from a simple conversation. He looked at her then, more curious than before. Almost too excited.
"Stay here." He asked in a commanding, inviting tone. He looked like a demon the girl could trust, looks can be deceiving and she knew it. But she had nowhere to go, she didn't want to go back, despite knowing that one day she would. "Stay in Devildom. Wouldn't that be better than going back?"
"It would indeed. But you forget my fame in this place." She whispered. "Would it be wise to let me stay? What would they say?"
"Child, please, I'm the future king that people walk around treading on eggshells. What I say will be the absolute truth and no one will question." Diavolo laughed out loud, a laugh that almost infected the girl. "And I believe we can both benefit from your stay here."
"Nonsense." Toby spoke up, floating around his sister as she stared at the demon king. The ghost had been making snarky, acidic comments since no one seemed to see him around. "I don't know if we should trust him, Morg. But you're going to listen to him anyway, aren't you? I wonder if you think about the consequences of that." Morgana waved her hand as if to silence the ghost amid his persistent mumbles, feeling him move to the bed and lie down beside her, glaring at Diavolo with a fierce glare.
"What do you get with it?" She asked, averting her eyes from the demon's filling her with pity, as if he imagined everything she'd been through in Cosmos and really wanted to help her. She didn't believe it, though. People don't help others without good reason, someone always wants to gain something in exchange for a mere favor. "What does Devildom get out of it?"
"I have a dream." The demon spoke sweetly, smiling. "I want to create a world where all the Realms can exist together, where humans are not afraid of demons and demons can make friends with humans and angels. It would be a perfect place, don't you think?" Diavolo held up one of the cupcakes he removed from the tray and glared. He seemed truly fascinated with human cooking, almost childlike. "It would be perfect. You can tell me about humans instead of me just reading about them in books."
"Too ideal, a childish dream indeed. Besides, humans shouldn't be so overrated, I could say they're worse than demons." Morgana nodded seriously, seeming to analyze everything she heard come out of the young prince's lips. But she soon smiled at the demon in front of her. "But it would be amazing if you could created such a world, even though bringing them together is a big challenge. And how can you benefit me?"
"Knowledge. Resources. Speak and it will be yours." Diavolo declared with a smile more sadistic than his smiles before. "Those bloodthirsty eyes don't know how to hide very well. You want to destroy Cosmos, right?" Morgana laughed. For the first time she laughed. And to the devil's ears it was a beautiful, funny sound. And when little tears started to fall from her eyes, she reached out to the prince.
