Thank you and Goodbye!

Hi supporters!

We want to thank you all again so much for your support. By now, I'm sure most of the people you've supported have written you emails or letters about the great things God has done on project. It was truly a great trip where we got to see God at work through us and in us. 

Keep a lookout for the newsletter which should be sent out in the next couple of days! Also, another video will be coming to you from the team.

We wish you all a merry Christmas season and pray that God's love will continue to overflow into your hearts and lives.

Recent happenings + Red Frogs

Hey supporters!

 Thanks for your patience in waiting for us to blog. I know we haven’t been blogging up the stories, but we’re getting to it! Our schedule is quite hectic so we haven’t been able to get some of the other team members to write about their stories. Be rest assured that there are so many cool stories coming your way though. We have still been running afternoon evangelism at the beach, and the Droppo in the evenings.

 Yesterday, we had the privilege of having lunch with the Red Frogs. There are about 45 of them here in Lorne serving the schoolies alongside us, running the recovery centre, transportation and handing out red frogs (yum)! It was such a refreshing time to meet new people who love the Lord and who are keen to reach out to the schoolies. We also joined them for their chapel service at night, where we worshipped God together and were able to hear from Mas, and be encouraged.

 Today we had the amazing opportunity to spend half the day with the Lord (4 hours). We were able to go wherever we chose for a few hours and simply spend time in prayer, reading his word and in worship. It was a beautiful time that many of us treasured.

 Tonight is the last night we will be running the Droppo for many of the schoolies as most of them will be leaving tomorrow morning. Please pray that this time will be used effectively to reach out to the schoolies for the last time before they return home.

 We invite you all to come down to our visitor’s day on Sunday to see what Lorne is like and what God has been doing here!

 We are super excited to see what God is still going to do, and we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers. Half way there!!!!!

Courtney's Testimony!

Hey guys this is Courtney here!! Just here to write about my experiences from the first night of evangelism and the ‘Droppo’.

As it is my first time on summer project and speaking more of my faith, it was a really good experience for me. The night initially consisted of groups of us walking around advertising the droppo, but then on one corner somehow we ended up in a conversation about politics and the broken state of the world. Now another few guys came up and one wanted to join our conversation even though his friends wanted to be elsewhere. He said that he wanted to have an intellectual conversation, and so we spent some time speaking with him. Hasnaa was trying to establish what he believed about God, and eventually he wanted to know what it was we believed. Hasnaa explained to him what we Christians believe, and then he wanted to know more. ‘What’s your story?’ he asked us all, and Nathan, Hasnaa and I gladly shared our testimonies with him.

Afterwards, this guy was so touched by our willingness to sit with him, chat with him, and just generally help him understand what we believe and who we are. He seemed to really appreciate it, and so Nathan offered to pray for him- which he gladly accepted.

It was really cool to see how God can work in people’s hearts, and even though we can’t yet say we have a new brother in Christ, we are certain that God has planted a seed through us and will use others to help this person grow and come to know Christ more and more.

Quick Update!

 Hey guys,

Quick update on the past two days!

On the third night of the droppo, a few of our team members felt heaviness in the atmosphere and some of us have texted to our supporters for prayer. We really thank you for all your prayers, encouragement and support.  It was a quiet and cold night, not many people were out. It felt like we kept getting interrupted when we were always just a few seconds away from introducing God.  However, we also had some really challenging conversations with people. God also answered our prayers and gave a couple of our girls a word.  

For afternoon evangelism, we headed to a caravan park to host a free barbeque for the schoolies there. We had four schoolies in a very intense game of “Giant Jenga” which attracted quite a bit of attention. This gave us an awesome opportunity to chat to some of schoolies that were watching.

Last night, we tried a flashmob which was quite energy consuming but we did have some pretty good conversations. For some reason, during this project, we seem to be having really good spiritual conversations with security guards too! We had some fun time busking which includes talking and jamming with two extremely musically talented schoolies, and we invited them to our open mic night! We also had an “act off” contest between a schoolie auditioning for the acting school in Ballarat and our very own Tyler Steane using Doctor Who and Shrek as different characters in different rounds of the competition. We also had the opportunity to show God’s love through comforting some schoolies who were upset.  

This afternoon, we started the art collaboration and set up a real life “angry bird” station with the giant Jenga blocks. That drew some attention and managed to do soularium, had some deep conversations and prayed for the people we conversed with.   

We are running the Q&A forum tonight so that’s something great to look forward to!

Quick stat update for those that are interested,

We have had 198 spiritual conversations –any conversations that are spiritual related and up to one point of the Knowing God Personally booklet-  and had 39 gospel presentations –Sharing the whole gospel and challenged the other party but have not prayed to receive Christ.

Team Prayer points

Hey supporters!

  Today during servant team time, we went around asking each servant team or some prayer points. 

Here are the prayer points. 

- The afternoon evangelism team are going to run an collaborative art project in addition to the usual activities. Pray that people respond to it. 

- Good activity time that leads into good spiritual conversations that lead to sharing the gospel and not just be involved in the activities

- Night Evangelism team are thinking of running a Q&A forum and an "open mic" night at the droppo. Pray for wisdom and guidance.

- Our awesome worship team have opened up worship to other student lifers that are interested. Pray that they will be able to work well together. 

- Pray that we continue to stay focused on Jesus and just keep our eyes on Him.

- The community team are coming up with ideas for the student lifers to have some fun and relax. Pray that the student lifers will be refreshed by having fun. 

- The prayer team are really praying for more prayers. Pray that the student lifers will continue to pray as much and hard as they are after project.

- Pray for the student lifers to continue to have faith and not be discouraged if prayers do not get answered immediately.

- Pray that people's relationship with God is deepening.

- Pray for the media team as we are struggling a bit with time and motivation in terms of having to edit photos and videos.  

- Please pray that the members of the food team will stay healthy as some of the student lifers are a bit sick.

- All the teams agree that the student lifers need prayer for energy and strength to live in God’s love and to rely on His strength instead of our own.
