I recently joined the TLB fandom and I came across the whole David's surname being Powers and I was like whattt, did I miss something? I know the truth now because I investigated but I imaged not everyone does. I'm more curious to know if David intentionally turned Shane or if was an accident. Idk, I always thought that piece of info to be odd as the Lost Boys obviously didn't care for the surfer gang. I could be wrong, but I figured David seem like the type that wouldn't let a potential threat to his territory or authority continue to exist.
Honestly I call the sequels “Frog fan fiction” which might be implied to be true because in one of them they’re knocked into a comic stand and you can see the lost boys comic series.
David’s last name being powers is total bullshit that I believe Shane 100% made up. I don’t remember the sequels all that well but it was probably “we’re vampires. He made me he’s like my brother now” that like weird attached to a guy who doesn’t remotely care about you type situation.
Really I don’t think the whole little surf nazi vamp gang is on The boys radar, partly because I think they were formed post extermination. They were to busy dealing with Michael to notice they left one alive (which again is sort of retconning because all the surfers were TORN APART OR BURNED- both because they’re messy eaters, to hide evidence and I’m also pretty sure it is also a good way to prevent accidental vampires. The boys are dumb but they aren’t stupid)
If they knew about Shane’s little gang, big if, I think they’d be upset about it but they’d probably have to report to Max first. He’s the leader/Peter pan in this situation, David is more of a slightly- second in command. However when have the boys ever listened to vamp dad?
