where the waters are calm

              Kalos was far different from Alola in many instances, but the first Selene is bitterly aware of is the weather –

              While still warm (mild, she’d later describe it as), Kalos held none of the warmth that the beaches in Alola did. But by no means does she dislike the region because of the differences; in fact, that is the reason she is here.

              Being Champion, her duty was bound to Alola. The league had been built three years ago and thus had been met with an onslaught of challengers. The flow had eased since the first year (thankfully), but every other day, she had been called to defeat another. It was a matter of running through the motions. And as much as Selene loved her position, it grew dull.

              Vacation had been overdue. And here she was, for one entire week, to enjoy the sights of Kalos.

              Ambrette Town is her second stop.

              The moment she hears about the beach, she negates the museums and shops.

              Her smile is wide, her eyes are sparkling. She runs, and with every step she hears the subtle rattling of all the shells in her bag. Her collection is growing, and will continue to grow. Selene pauses to obtain another, a smooth number buried deep within the sand.

              The sunlight catches on the surface of the shell. A myriad of colors dazzle Selene’s vision. She pockets it –

              “ – Zzzt! There’s somebody behind you!” Her Rotom Dex cries out.

              She whirls around on her heels to face this absolute stranger. And like every stranger, she smiles wide and spreads her hands in greeting.

              “Alola! It’s a little rude to stare at people, don’t you think?”

🚙 Our muses drive/walk around to look at peoples xmas lights at night!

They are walking down Vernal Avenue (vert not its only color this season), Sycamore’s lab capping the end of their sights and a tail of cigarette smoke pointing back at the Tower; neither landmark is gloating over Calem and Touya’s attention though. 

Touya affords a brief side-glance at the taller boy and wiggles a bit under his coat, seeing the Kalosian is seemingly unaffected by the cold - another thing to add to his mental list. He is looking down at the darkening slush, boots as unyielding as his inhaling lungs. Look around. Lighten up, Touya wants joke but he doesn’t. Because he realizes that this may be the most peace they’ve found in each other’s company, and he hopes there is a whisper of understanding, too.

         Both waiting for the promised happy in their holidays.

Laying on the floor in an odd place, wrapped in a blanket.

Violet would never admit it, but Yusa Kanemoto’s spare apartment key was almost worth more than the highest bounty. After willingly toughing it out on the streets for the longest time, the Nighthawk didn’t accept the celebrity’s simple afterthought of a gift at first out of pride--but one step into the cool, spacious, and often empty penthouse flat did wonders to change her mind.

At first, Violet had taken up residence on the puffy living room couch, but long days out in the crisp Kalosian autumn drained even the former Gang Member of her resolve. Without Yusa around to tut at her lack of decency, Violet would often just flop down lazily on the plush carpet in front of the couch, pulling the comforter blanket with her. The infamous Nighthawk, headhunter and renowned hired gun, was officially too lazy to climb some cushions.

“Well, this is embarrassing...Vi, what are you doing down there?”

Violet awoke to Yusa’s foot prodding her shoulder (what was she doing here?), and grumbled at the very thought of the celebrity teasing her about this later. Still, even as the feared huntress tried to retreat under the blanket with a heavy sigh, Yusa persisted with her nosy ways, her pristine outdoors mask slipping...

 “Aren’t you uncomfortable? The couch is right next to you...”

The look that Violet shot Yusa would have caused most to run away in fright, but the star merely groaned as her “house guest” grabbed her ankle and half-heartedly tried to pull her down to the floor. 

“Come down here and find out, Barbie...I saved you a VIP spot,” Violet offered, patting the floor right next to her with a sly grin. And this time, it was Yusa’s turn to sigh.
