Dear Sonja,
(this was too big for an ask and i dont know how to otherwise put this out)
I’m sorry but I’m afraid to come talk to you in person. Idk if you’re still angry about the things I said, but I’m going to do this anyways.
I had no idea your grandmother died of a stroke. I do not think strokes are funny. I do not think is death is funny. I am very sensitive about death. I was there on the fieldtrip when Kamonie drowned. I’m pretty sure I saw him die because I saw his friends in the water and I saw a lot of splashing and commotion. I wasn’t really paying attention to what was going on, but I’m pretty sure that’s what I saw. It was the most traumatic experiences of my life. Everyone in my class was freaking the fuck out because our friend, who was so strong and nice and great, was gone. I saw some kids cry that I haven’t seen cry since like kindergarten. Or that I would think would ever cry in public.
So believe me when I say I take death very, very seriously and did not mean any offense when I laughed at Woodrow Wilson having a stroke because he was unable to compromise on the Treaty of Versailles. It was just the fact that he wouldn’t compromise. NOT the fact that he had a stroke. And definetly not death. At all.
I am not a racist person, and I do not make stereotypical judgements of people. I’d like to think that I am a very accepting person and embrace people of all backgrounds. If you knew me better, you would know I would never say that Native Americans are incompetent as a personal opinion. That is obviously completely false. In the document we were looking at, the guy was saying that Native Americans were never going to assimilate into white society, so they should just be moved. I summarized the document by saying that the author of the document’s opinion was that native americans were incompetent. I do not think any race is lesser than the other. I do not believe any human being is superior over another.
I’m sorry that my words have offended you. I did not mean them in the way you interpreted them.
This is not sarcastic. This is 100% sincere.
Please forgive me.
