Hey I’m in a story my friend wrote.

Hey you read hindi or sanskrit? The minimal devi / mother Durga post what does the artist say on top. Could you translate it for me please. Sorry I'm just really curious.

Of course, anytime! Don’t worry about it.

I think it’s in Sanskrit, but most of the words are also Hindi words (like devi, obviously), so I can read most of it. It’s part of a Durga Sloka (a sloka is a poetic form of Hindu prayer), also known as a Devi Mantra. 

Transliterated, the text reads: ya devi sarva bhutesu shakti rupena samsthita / namestasyai namestasyai namestasyai namoh namah.

Translated, this (really roughly - I’m not an expert!) means: to the goddess who resides as strength* in all existence / salutations, salutations, salutations** for her again and again.

* shakti can also be translated as energy. 

** I’ve seen some translations of namestasyai as ‘we bow’ instead of ‘salutations’. Both are probably fine; salutations is just the one I thought of first.
