Hi folks, I’m a new Bojack rper, just getting into the fandom in 2021.

I’m up for rping with any fandom/crossover as I’ve not been able to find many Bojack-fandom rpers, but I’m especially interested in:

So one thing about “The View from Halfway Down” that a fair few people have noticed - is that when BoJack calls Diane they have a conversation which echoes a previous conversation they had:

However - what people seem to forget is that the context that they had this conversation. 

It comes from Season 2, episode 10: “Yes And”. Diane has been avoiding Mr Peanutbutter, her husband, in a depressive slump and the conversation goes as follows:

BoJack: Why won’t you go home?

Diane: I should. I know I should. I wish I could just go home right now and crawl into bed and not have to talk about anything or explain anything. He would just say, “How was your day?” And then he would say, “Hey, did you know the monorail was invented by George Monorail?” And I would say, “I don’t think that’s true.” And he would say, “Well, if he didn’t invent it, he certainly perfected it.” And I wouldn’t have to say, “I’m sorry I left. I’m sorry I made things so difficult. I’m sorry I’m not the person I thought I was.” I would just say, “My day was good.” And he would say, “I love you.”

The conversation isn’t parroting one that BoJack had with Diane, or even one they talked about having.

It’s parroting a conversation she wanted to have with Mr Peanutbutter, while they were married.

My reading of this is that in his last moments, BoJack was playing the part of Diane’s husband. That’s happiness for him, or at least as happy as he thinks he can be, during his last underwater breaths.

Well that was a reference he hadn’t heard in donkeys. Normally people were getting excited about Secretariat, or Philbert, but to hear someone still watches the old reruns of Horsin’ Around? 

That was until he said ‘from back in the day’.

“It was a golden time for television, there was none of this gritty, too-real, depressing artsy crap. Just a cute family who love each other getting into shenanigans. This guy gets it,” he said, patting the neurotic duckman on the shoulder. “You want a beer?”
