One day the king of Puri went to visit Lord Jagannath. It was late in the evening and the temple was about to close. The flower vendor in front of the temple almost sold everything she had and was left with only one fragrant flower. The king asked for it and when she was about to give it to him, the wealthiest merchant came and offered double the rate. Then began a series of auctioning for that one flower. Eventually, the king gives his entire kingdom to her (which the merchant cannot equal or beat). He offers the flower to Jagannath and slept in the village hall as a commoner. That night Lord Jagannath came in his dreams and asked him to remove that flower from his head. The weight of it was unbearable for the lord. The king asked him “How come a flower is heavy for someone who can lift the entire creation with fraction of his finger?”. Lord replies “I can lift the entire creation, but the weight of your devotion, which caused you to sacrifice your kingdom to get one flower for me, is heavy (even for the Lord)”.
