Sometimes a body needs to be amongst the trees. Outside of wifi access. Outside of cellular access. Tree bathing. Putting one’s feet in the soil. Nights under the moonlight telling stories around the fire. Warm early morning coffee with the dew still covering everything. I’m thankful to be surrounded by such wonderful folks and that I am able to be a witness the complex beauty of the great outdoors. The kids had so much fun exploring and using the walkie-talkies. As per our yearly tradition, we all wore white for NYE. This year we headed up north to enjoy the snow. We packed up the NYE decor, our all white gear, the warm clothes, good food for a few days, loaded up the kids in the 4Runner and got a place in Payson for two nights. Ericka brought some fun games and we all did goals together. It was snowing in Payson but also raining so the snow wouldn’t stick. We took a little drive to strawberry and people were pulled over everywhere. Smiling, happy, families enjoying the snow and feeling the good vibes of a fresh new year. We wear white because Ericka and I got engaged in 2014 in Rio De Janeiro during an all white party around Praia Leblon / Ipanema. We’ve kept the tradition ever since. We had the best time just being with each other in some hotel in somem small town talking and playing games. Simple. Powerful. There’s something about water. Maybe it’s the grounding that a Pisces needs to feel. There is something so refreshing and cleansing. I need it. I try to be around some natural body of water at least once a month. If That is not possible then a long sit down shower suffices. Az rain is good. Being in my gardens and wetting everything every 4 or 5 days works also. Water. I need it. The family loves it. We always leave feeling refreshed and United as a family against what ever current or waves we must face. This time it was Coronado beach and Carlsbad beach. Thank you to the the uneven heating of the Earth by the sun and the Earth's own rotation. We finally got to take a good, fully get away from it, family vacation. It’s was 4 days packed full of close I Tera toons with the wife and kids and so much fun. Rian abs Kamila loved it and the wife and I even refreshed a bit. Legoland, while not being a ride heavy park, was very interesting and made it easy to operate within the park and hotel system. We budgeted for a 4 day mini road trip w/ Legoland as the largest priced item with a day on Coronado beach, time sailing the San Diego bay and sea food stops and beach time in Carlsbad and we all came home with memories and being able to do a little of what each of us wanted. The vacation was paid off before we left. I love my life. I love my kids and my wife. I love my work. There’s something special about “getting out” to a little cabin In the woods. This little space was something I found on Airbnb. A family used to use this as their home school 20+ years ago outside Williams Az. As their kids grew they started using it as a “pioneer days” for foreign students. It’s simple. Wood stoves and log walls. Bunk beds and a light or two. We had a great time and although I still feel like I need sleep I feel somewhat refreshed. When we picked up the kids on Thursday they were on the edge of a hangry melt down. It was hot, school was out and they were on some psyco kid stuff! La Ericka was coming from Chandler and I was coming from South Tempe so Soda Bun Thai Food was in direct crossing point for us. When we entered we were greeted by a friendly woman. I always try speaking Thai when I go eat at Thai places in honor of my time in Thailand when i was known as Ryan of Phra Khanong. “Sawatdee khrap! 😀” I announced and she replied “kha!😁” As by routine I ordered Spicy Tom yum Goong (lemon grass and mushroom soup shrimp) and Som Tom Pbu (green papaya salad fermented crab). She learned me on my pronunciations. To my surprise, the had the fermented crab! No other restaurant I’ve asked for it in Az has had it! IMAGINE. MY. EXCITEMENT. I also tried some spring rolls, deep fried tofu in sweet sour sauce and got rice and noodles for the kids. This food was so legit and so delicious, we all sat around and ate while mumbling and groaning “yummmm ummmmm yessss oh yeah yummmm” We enjoyed the sweet sticky rice abs mango for desert. It was heavenly. I am so glad this spot is one major street away from my house. Khob Kuhn khrap!!!
