Legacy of the Chozo: Prologue: Samus Aran Personal Logs One
Hi friends.
This is the prologue for the new story I am writing. I'm looking to write a fun, multi-series shared universe fanfiction, with Samus Aran as our lead.
Under the cut is the prologue.

Samus Aran Personal Log

I am unsure what initially lead me to this galaxy. Perhaps I wanted a break after that last mission, an excuse to be alone and think. Perhaps it was a desire to escape. Perhaps it is simple wanderlust that spurs me onward.
There is an odd feeling of peace here. No obvious of intelligent life, nothing demanding my attention. Nothing trying to kill me, control me, or otherwise force me into a role that I am not. Too often in my recent missions I have allowed myself to become... compromised. I need to find my center before venturing out again.
---
I feel as though I am missing something. I’m almost sure of it.
My meditations have revealed to me that there is something here. While I will not claim to have the same connection to higher planes as my adoptive parents, I can still sense something. There is a reason I was called here. I can see now that I was called.
What am I missing? What is here that I am not seeing? I have my ship scanning the planets for something hidden, a base or maybe ruins of an ancient race. It seems like I'm always finding those.
---
No luck so far. Three more planets to check out, plus an asteroid field that seems promising.
---
I decided to touchdown on one of the planets. It is a small, green and blue planet, mostly water. Sometimes it's nice to try and relax in an environment that isn't actively trying to kill me. I needed to collect raw material to refuel the ship anyways.
It was a peaceful enough place, and the local fauna left me alone. It reminded me of my days with the Chozo. It's not often I just stop and do nothing around a place. A change of pace is good every once in a while, if only to recharge the batteries.
---
My convalescence was cut short as I had to take off to avoid a sudden storm. It electrified the air, but my shields were strong enough to protect the ship.
From far above I could see the patterns of the storm, a dark, swirling cloud that seemed to engulf an entire continent. Even from sapce I could see flashes of lightening and a growing fire. There was a beauty in the destructive nature of the beast as it devoured everything in its path.
I wonder how often this happens, this... cleansing of the planet. What will emerge in the aftermath? Would it be the same as before? Could anything even survive? Is there a silver lining that will present itself? Is there any mercy at all? Can something so damaging, so destructive, so… final be associated with anything good?
I watched that storm for a long time.
---
I am not sure how I missed this the first time I scanned the area. I suspect I was overly concerned with other matters. Then again, it was cleverly hidden. I had the ships scanning various frequencies and radiation levels to find an unusual signal or some power source, but nothing was coming up. While looking at the reading, I noticed some slightly elevated levels of some radiation. Uncommon, yes, but not rare. Normally I would discount this as being within the margin of error, but this struck me for some reason.
On a hunch, I brought up a old teaching tool, a Chozo radiation table. It was similar to the old Periodic Table of Elements in design. Using the the radiation I found earlier as a guide, I highlighted squares on the table. After some time, I found a pattern. Although incomplete, I could recognize it as a symbol. Furthermore, if I was correct, it was a part of the ancient Chozo language.
It was a call for help.
---
I traced the radiation back to the asteroid field, but I was unable to lock onto a source. It is dangerous to fly into the middle of the space death rocks, but I am looking at little other options. I was sending out a response to the call for help, but nothing answered. Based on how secretly the message was hidden, this didn't surprise me.
I set the Nano Printers to create a tertiary shielding system to supplement what I already had. An asteroid field was not to be taken lightly. I'd have to depower the weapons systems and take a few conveniences offline, but that's the price you pay.
Everything should be NaCed and rerouted in about 8 hours. After that, I fly into the storm.
