If there’s actually such a thing as karma, as Buddhists, Hindus, and others believe, then David and Ambrosia Vertesi surely have good things coming their way. In 2011, the Vancouver couple—he’s a musician, she’s a vice-president at Hootsuite—started #SingItFwd, a charitable initiative that raises funds for Saint James Music Academy.
To date, the Vertesis have raised $125,000 for the Downtown Eastside–based organization, which provides music lessons and after-school care for disadvantaged children. Proceeds raised by #SingItFwd have gone toward instruments, meals, lessons, and social-support programs at the school.

The event will be hosted at Vogue Theatre (918 Granville St.), with doors opening at 6pm and the show starting at 7pm. Tickets are $25 for students, or $35 general admission and can be purchased via Northern Tickets here.
Further donations to Saint James Music Academy, a music education program for children in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside that offers instruction at no cost to students' families, can be made here. The program is currently working towards a goal of securing their own facility for the 2016 school year.

For this Sing It Forward, the song is The Letter, by the Box Tops. In this song, a man receives a letter from his love, asking him to be with him.
How often have you received a hand-written letter in the mail? Odds are, it is a very are occurrence. With email, txt, IM, and phones, why bother? There is something nice about receiving a letter. Knowing that someone took that time out of their day to sit down and write a letter to you. It is personal and warm, and can have more impact than a quick call. They can read it when they want, in whatever setting they want.
When you see this Sing It Forward, think about sitting down a writing out a letter to someone you know. It might make their day a little brighter.

What is Sing It Forward? Sing It Forward is all about doing something cool and nice. It could be sending a letter to a loved one, it could be giving someone a ride somewhere, it could be just taking the time to help a stranger in need.
When you see one of these posts, think about the message it is trying to send, and see if you'd be able to try to do the thing suggested.
How can you contribute? Add your voice! As you can see, these start with just me and my (horrible) singing voice. To really get this noticed, we need more singers! What you do is record yourself singing (without music, if possible, but I can work with just about anything) and send it to me on tumblr. You can send it here by clicking this link. For each new singer I get, I'll update the song and the post, and add a line to the credits under the Read More cut.
Don't think you can sing? Sing It Forward is not about good singing or bad singing, it is about having fun and getting the message out. As you can tell, I am not the best singer, but I still try. If you don't want to sing and still want to help, just reblog the post, sending it forward.
You can track us with the Sing It Forward tag.One last note, you'll notice the quality of the music is not the best. Unfortunately, all I have to use to suppress the vocals is a free program I have online. I would use a karaoke track, but often they are faster than the original song, have a different overall sound, and tend to have it's own background vocal track. I prefer not to use this option if possible. If anyone can help on that track, feel free to get in contact with me.

This is my favourite #SingItFwd video, these girls really enhance the song (which is brilliant on its own). And I'm pretty sure I could listen to Cayne sing the dictionary and still be happy.
