Round 1: Lothario Don is Pleasantview’s casanova with many women on the go, despite him being engaged to the famous heiress to the Goth fortune, Casandra. Is his love for her genuine or is it just another one of his conquests with more benefits attached? Will he ever be able to sort out his feelings for Nina, and will a stupid mistake he carelessly made be the end of his plans to secure a place in the goth family?
“Okay, just open your mouth for me, I just need to check the back of your throat to make sure nothing is swollen” Don knew there was some sort of sexual joke he could have made but, he chose to remain professional despite being very attracted to Mrs. Cynthia Kim. He knew that there were a few more patients he’d have to look after before he could get home and get ready for the night he had planned with Kaylyn, he just had to get to 6pm for his shift to end.
When Kaylynn arrived at his house, Don knew that it wouldn't take much to get her upstairs into his bed or hot tub or both, if he was lucky. He had been taking advantage of his freedom a lot more lately due to the fact that he knew he’d have to be a lot more careful after he’d have to play the role of a doting husband, so he didn’t waste much time before buttering up Kaylynn. Don just hoped she wouldn’t bring up “the talk” again to kill the vibe.
“Don, you’re one of the most important people in my life, I hope you know that” Kaylynn professed to Don as they were getting cozy in the hot tub. Don never knew how to respond to Kaylynn’s deep thoughts about them, he barely knew how to respond to her questions about what they were let alone tell her how he feels or didn’t feel about her..
“Yeah, you’re important to me too, baby girl.” “But, how come-” “Lets just focus on the moment, shall we?”
And with that, he shut her up for the time being, finally getting what he had been thinking about all day.
It wasn’t long though before Kaylynn persisted on the topic of “them”... “Don, this has been going on since we were seniors in college, you know how I feel about you, and you still insist on keeping it a secret, you’re starting to remind me of another man I shall not mention…” “First of all Kaylynn, you knew from the start what this was. You know that my priorities are elsewhere and that I’m an engaged man.”
“Yeah… you never fail to mention that ... .Well, I don’t know how often you’ll see me from now on. This has been nice, but I deserve to be treated like a priority.”
Don paused for a second, thinking about this… he knew his feelings for Kaylynn were real, but he also knew his feelings for Nina were very real… let alone how he felt about Cas. but, the idea of losing Kaylynn tugged at his heart.. This had been someone who he felt knew him better than anyone, even though he’d been with Nina since they were teenagers.. She understood their situation. Despite Kaylynn knowing their situation and saying she understood, he knew that she always hoped that it would be more, and he took advantage of it even if he never wanted to admit that to himself, or her of course. “Listen Kaylynn, you know I care about you and what we have is real, but I can’t just break off my engagement to Cas. You can’t expect that of me, I was clear from the start what this was. If you need to walk away and this be our last time, I understand. I will miss you and that fine ass of yours though." "Whatever Don....so be it" With that said, Kaylynn turned around and went to bed, leaving Don sitting on the bed not sure of how he was going to handle losing the one girl he always had in his back pocket.
Don tried to paint this in a positive light, one less relationship he’d have to juggle, one less secret he’d have to worry about Casandra finding out about. Sure he’d miss Kaylynn, but didn’t she already have that Pleasant guy she’d been fooling around with? He knew he should probably get to bed, Cas was going to be coming over to discuss some wedding things in the morning and he knew that he’d have to be on full attention to avoid her nagging him.
