AU Character Intro - This has the info of the oc I made in this fic
The moon shone brightly and the ocean almost glowed as Moana and Loto enjoyed the ocean breeze. Loto needed a break, even though she denied it. There were many new festivities ever since the ocean was reunited. Loto’s been working nonstop, building all kinds of boats for racing, and fulfilling special requests for no kind fee. Loto was very energetic in general, so she didn’t mind lacking some rest. But Moana wasn’t having that Loto was seventeen, which wasn’t much younger from herself, but she was still pretty much a teenager who needed her rest.
“Relaxing, am I right?” Moana chuckled seeing Loto looked a lot more calm.
“Yeah.. you weren't lying.” she sighed in relief, chuckling with Moana.
“I’m telling you, you need to learn to take a break Loto! I get it, you're an amazing boat builder, but you don’t have to do it all the time.” she said sitting next to Loto as the ocean took control of the boat.
“And I’m telling you that I’m fine!” she chuckled as Moana sat down. “I enjoy it, and I get enough rest when I need to!”
“Five out of ten hours is enough rest?” she asked with an ‘are you kidding me?’ face.
“For me, it's basically a whole night's rest!” she said putting her hand in the water. “And correction, average hours is eight.” she corrected.
“That doesn’t make it any better!” she laughed watching Loto lean over.
They both sat quietly for a little bit, then Loto leaned back up, in a normal sitting position.
“You know something I was thinking about recently?” she asked out of nowhere.
Moana smiled, Loto many random subject changes if it got quiet for a bit.
“If mermaids and sirens or like nereids exist… you know? From like Greek mythology?” she said looking face to face with Moana.
“Most likely. Demigods and Demigoddesses are real, I mean.. You're talking to one right now aren't you?” she asked with a smile and they both laughed.
“I guess you're right… but perfections a myth, and mermaids can be described as almost perfect soo—” she paused, something had caught their eye, the boat stopped moving too.
“Loto? Are you o-” she paused when she looked where Loto was looking.
A mermaid! A real mermaid! Or what could’ve been a siren… but let’s stick with mermaid. She turned around and met their gaze.
“Woah!” she said in amazement, splashing into the ocean.
Moana and Loto’s eyes followed the mermaid as she fell into the water.”
“Human?” she said, popping her head up near the boat, making Moana screen a little and cover her mouth, and Loto jumped back, a little spooked but with a grin.
“Well I’m human, she's a Demigoddess.” she said bluntly, but amazed at the mermaid.
“Cool!!” The mermaid said in amazement.
“Sorry for the screaming.. You scared us a bit there.” Moana chuckled.
“I’m Loto, this is my dear friend Moana! And what's your name?”
“I’m Melody!” she giggled, but her attention was taken by both pairs of feet. She gently picked up Loto’s right foot.
“I haven’t seen these in a long time… what do you humans call them again?”
“Feet.” Loto chuckled, giggling a little when Melody poked her foot a few times before dropping it.
“What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be with a pod?” Moana asked.
“I kinda just come and go.. So I’m usually alone. I don’t mind though, I get company from the sea animals sometimes.” Melody shrugged, resting her arm on the boat.
“I have so many questions! Are sirens and nereids real too? Do the Greek gods really exist? Do you guys turn into sea foam after being on land for too long?” Loto bursted out excitedly.
“Yes, yes, and no!” she answered with the same energy.
Moana laughed, these two were definitely gonna be good friends. They already had the same energy, and Melody barely even seemed frightened by her or Loto.
They spent probably half an hour talking, it had to be midnight by now.
“It’s getting late, we should probably get going.” Moana sighed.
“The Demigoddess? Tired? And the mere human is more than wide awake.” she teased and turned Moana, making Melody giggle.
“Haha, very fun. No, I’m not tired” she chuckled. “This Demigoddess just has worry warts for parents. It was nice meeting you Melody.” she smiled.
“Just a few more minutes! Please?” Loto asked.
“Can I come with you guys?” she said catching Moana and Loto’s attention.
“But.. you have fins?” Loto asked with a small chuckle.
“Yeah but.. after a while they just turn into legs I think. Like… poof!” she said, flipping in the water.
They both paused, a little amazed and confused.
“You never told me that!” she playfully pouted as Moana was still in awe.
“Well.. if you can turn human then… I guess you can come!” she smiled.
Melody did her best to pull herself up, and with Moana’s she got in. She sat next to Loto as the night went on. She watched the stars in amazement, her tail drying into a pair of legs. Soon enough they got passed the reef.
“Okay! We’re here-“ Moana started but paused and laughed when she saw Loto and Melody on her shoulder fast.
“And here I thought I was the ‘tired’ one.” she chuckled.

why is loto and that girl in the red jumper human then in this artwork? they sometimes turn human in this story!
decided to add more kea traits onto loto’s outfit!!
one character’s an OC that i made for this, she as a bird is a scarlet macaw! ^^ she has no name yet….

context: mirabel and loto are ghost hunting, mirabel was made to do the estes method lol. they were both hunting with 2 ghost hunters that are off camera (aka doing a side quest)

RIO/ENCANTO/MOANA2/MODERN AU BUT its where mirabel’s a teen actress who has to live into rio de Janeiro and her main and closest friends are birds (LOTO, MONI AND KELE mostly)
how is mirabel friends with birds? she transformed into one, once day, and she figured she got shapeshifting powers and she didn’t know why and she could understand animals cuz of that, she haven’t got that power for very long tho
then why is loto human with mirabel??? they do sometimes turn human in the story
in this story that’s in w.i.p that i’m working on, loto and mirabel are going ghost hunting with 2 ghost hunters at the location mineral springs hotel😈

INFO ON LOTO FROM MY AU!
loto has always been curious about EVERYTHING, ever since she hatched. loto is a kea, the worlds only alpine parrot who's natural environment is in new zealand. she's always been curious in species she couldn't understand their languages of, like specifically humans and is fascinated by how they make boats. loto does lots of stuff without thinking and reading the room. loto is also very energetic and likes to stay up late. loto sometimes gets sleep deprived because her brain usually has 271722910 tabs running open at all times
in the current AU lore, loto is in rio de janerio because she accidentally got transported to rio, out of curiosity on a cargo ship. after her family realised loto was missing, the members who are able to went on a search mission to find her. they finally managed found her on the cargo hours after it's departure and loto was scared but relieved they found her, throughout the journey she met moni and became close friends 3 years before mirabel's lore in the story starts.
currently she lives in rio with her family.
loto often makes things and stores it. if it doesn't work out for loto's liking she destroys the whole thing and starts over.
later in the main lore, loto was staying with her friends for a few weeks and they meet mirabel ( MY AU VERSION). loto was curious why mirabel moved awkwardly, was nervous all the time and couldn't fly till loto and moni found out a week later that mirabel was actually human when she managed to transform back and revealed that she was trying to tell them that she transformed into a bird and she had no clue why. a main thing loto knew about mirabel before they met was that she knew that mirabel as an actress.
a year after that lore happens loto, moni, and a family friend kele woke up in the moana universe as HUMANS! loto was so excited to be a marine engineer and yap more about her scientific facts like she's ever dreamed of, but moni and kele was anxious about this till they realised mirabel was with them too physically AS moana which made mirabel nervously twitchy. mirabel gave them all the info they needed to know about being human to help them (happened before the plot of moana 2 but after the 1st movie. loto's human design looks completely ALIKE to loto in moana 2, just so ya'll know!)
