#lotro mac client

A bit late to the discussion but figured I'd come back to the Mac client discussion because I just checked out the space usage on my computer, having LotRO installed through the Steam client, and it takes up a solid 47GB of my hard drive when all the files are accounted for. Sighs. What is it even doing anymore.

Sweet mother of Yavanna! 47 GB?! That is.. MORE than double the size of the Windows client. What in the name of Eru would cause that? Seriously.. I am no programmer, but unless they combined high and low rez textures and just forced both into the client, there is no conceivable reason that I can contemplate for such a massive amount of space usage.

Iirc the Steam client for Mac is smaller than the non-Steam client but still somewhere between 22 and 23 GB?

Not sure on that one again, as I don’t have a Mac.

I have the standard one and it takes up 25 GB but. Mac isn't really a pain in the ass to work with imo it's just that the devs are too underpaid to care to learn it which is reasonable but also like. It took them months to fix the memory leak issue that caused the game on Mac to essentially Mac BSoD your computer every approx 2 hours. Idk if they fixed the loading screen issue because I fixed it myself but that was also irritating.

Geeze. That is really unfortunate. I do not care much for Windows, but I am happy that it is mainstream enough to not have compatibility \ shitty client issues. One of my friends tried playing with the Mac client and hated it. I swear, if only Linux didn’t have so many compatibility issues, I would never look back.

I think the Mac Client is automatically high-res or something

I actually have no idea - I don’t use a Mac and never have, but it is probably a safe bet to assume so, as the file size is larger. I actually think both clients might be high rez only now.

I'm on Mac and because they hecked up the programming it takes up about 25 GB for me so if you're on Mac you'll need a bit more space.
