It’s Madison Time!

In which Lou Ann hassles Arthur about exactly what you’d expect.
Lou Ann Lou Ann approaches, munching on something. Probably bubblegum, as usual. She's in casual clothes again today and has her hands in her pockets. As she approaches the house and sees Arthur, she puts up a single hand in a salute. "Ey, boss." Arthur Kinlay is sitting in the stairs leading to his door, cleaning his pistols. He offers a nod when Lou Ann appears. "Anything new?" Lou Ann: I was gonna ask you the same thing. Lou Ann she approaches the stais and leans up against the railing, ever chewing. "Heard y'found some information on a new lead." Arthur Kinlay: You heard right. Made a new interesting aquaintance. Remember that Sighilde woman from the ship's logs? Lou Ann nods. Arthur Kinlay: Goes by Nika now, got a lil' shop in Thayd. She's gonna help us take the Redstar down... and she gave us a few locations to check out. Lou Ann's eyes widen, and then narrow. "Trust her, ey?" Arthur Kinlay waves vaguely. "Sort of... She seems genuine in her wish to put a bullet through their boss' head at least, so for now our goals are similar enough." Lou Ann's eyes remain on him for a moment. It might be considered threatening - or possibly resting bitch face - but she shrugs it off, looking off in the direction of his firing range and returning to her half-lidded stare. She blows a bubble in response and says nothing else. Arthur Kinlay: Not gonna be easy, Nika said that back in 'her time' we could've expected eight guards plus one per four slaves. So I'll expect something similar.. or more. Arthur Kinlay puts his pistol down. "The most likely location for them to have brought what remains of the captives they had in Whitevale is Algoroc... so that's where we're most likely to find Adessa. We'll hit that place first." Lou Ann shifts her weight and rests her elbow on the top of the banister, eyeing him again. "The sooner we get her back, the better. Carlos'll be happy t'hear that we've got a lead, and probably be happier that we've got plenty of moving targets too." Lou Ann sort of shrugs and looks down at her feet, scuffing them on the bottom stair. "Me, I'll be happy when this is over with and I can spend all my hard earned betting money in peace." Arthur Kinlay sniffs. "Targets aren't something we'll be lacking of, I'm sure. They may have ikthian weaponry, too... that's what the robot was back in the bunker." Arthur Kinlay raises a brow. "Betting money?" Lou Ann sort of smirks behind another bubble. She blows this one bigger, as though she's trying to buy herself some time. "Oh, Q didn't -tell- you, ey? You made us quite a bit a'coin. Which reminds me..." she reaches into her pocket and puts a tiny pile of gold and some silver on one of the higher stairs for him. "This is your cut, not that you'd want it, I'm sure. Mister morality over here." <txt> LELANT: ey q Arthur Kinlay gives the pile of coin a suspicious look. "If I were that high-strung on morality, I doubt I'd be consorting with an ex-slaver in the planning of a large-scale killing spree, would I? ...what 'were' you guys betting on that I'd merit a share?" Lou Ann looks up and off to one side innocently. It's obvious where Adessa picked up that look from. "You, obviously. The guys and I, we knew Lil' Momma had a boyfriend. We just didn't know who. THEY are idiots and they bet on Little Red -" she puts a hand down at her hip, as if to say HE'S THIS HIGH, "- And I bet on you. Q got in on it too, we made us a killin'." She returns to leaning against the wall. "I dunno about YOU, but I start getting into dangerous, serious shit like this, I needta lighten t Lou Ann the mood some. Helps me stay focused." Arthur Kinlay smacks his forehead wit his palm, hard. "I... seriously?" He lowers his hand, passing it over his face, mumbling. "Lil' Red... you mean Kyrize? Nah that one's Wyl's." Arthur Kinlay smirks a bit. "Not that she'll admit as much... yet" Lou Ann raises her eyebrows again temporarily and then looks down at her fingernails. "Good. That's more money in my pocket." Arthur Kinlay shakes his head. "Just how many bets you got running?" "As many as it takes to pay my bills," she says easily, grinning at him. "What, y'think the Cartel pays us much? 'Cause, they don't." Arthur Kinlay rolls his eyes, though he looks slightly amused. "Any other concerning our lil' group?" Lou Ann thinks about it for a second and shrugs. "I think the boyfriend thing was the biggest seller, honestly. Brute is convinced that Wylion whatever-her-name-is is the spirit of Lil' Momma's dead mom, but I'm'na make bank on that. He doesn't seem t'realize that dead people, they usually don't fight so good." Lou Ann: Think I should b'cuttin' yer share in half for Lil' Momma? Who initiated that shit, anyway? Arthur Kinlay snorts. "Oh yeah Wyl's alive alright. Too loud to be dead." He raises his brow again. "...you mean between me an' her?" Lou Ann puts her hands up, although not far enough to actually mean she put effort into it. "Innocent question. I plan on hasslin' her some when we find her." There is some emphasis on the 'when.' Arthur Kinlay wrinkles his nose. "And she'd answer you in a heartbeat too probably. She was the first to flirt." Lou Ann shakes her head with a smirk. "A walkin' freakin' heartbreaker, that one. I figured as much." Arthur Kinlay: Heh... she's something alright.. *He sigh and rubs the side of his nose.* We'll need a transport shuttle for the captives once we get the place cleared out. You guys got one handy? Otherwise I'll start asking around. Lou Ann's com beeps in her pocket. She presses a button in her ear and then starts skimming the air in front of her like she's reading something. The button gets pressed again, and she refocuses on Arthur. "I can see what I c'n get a hold on. Carlos and Brute'll be no help on that end. Carlos basically just..." she shrugs here. "Waves his guns around from inside and takes out stragglers, and the last time we flew with Brute he cried like a little baby." <txt> QBAYHILL: Hey....you....person. <txt> LELANT: It's lou ann <txt> LELANT: I'm talkin with Red right now, he's got a lead <txt> LELANT: we were totally right btw. Got any questions for him while I'm here? <txt> QBAYHILL Yea! Gonna give Brut some coin ta be nice. Damn his pupface. I dunno. Don think Red like me much. <txt> LELANT: don't pamper the puppy he'll start begging for scraps. I don't think Red likes anyone right now, don't take it personal <txt> LELANT: we all have reasons for what we're doin. Anyway, sounds like he's got a lead. I'm gonna check w him when we should get together next for some target practice. you in again? <txt> QBAYHILL GAWD MOM! I like tha puppy! I don care that he don like me. <txt> QBAYHILL Depends...what the target this time? More crashed star ships? <txt> LELANT: lemme ask <txt> LELANT: hes givin me all the gossip on lil momma <txt> QBAYHILL eww no deets pls! <txt> LELANT: ugh gross, no <txt> QBAYHILL hey u said you was gettin gossip <txt> LELANT: I don't want to know about my coworkers sex life <txt> LELANT: hes being sweet on her is all <txt> QBAYHILL sappy pappy <txt> QBAYHILL Ya no wat? Im in either way. I could use more coin. Lou Ann tilts her head, just slightly. "When d'we need this shuttle by?" Arthur Kinlay: As soon as possible. The sooner we hit 'em the better. The shuttle'll just be to move the slaves out of there, there's no telling what state they'll be in. Lou Ann frowns. "I can do get people out, no problem, so long as I've got someone to keep them in the back and not jumping out or trying to get up front." Arthur Kinlay: That shouldn't be a problem, so long as we aren't all killed in the process of freeing them. Lou Ann: Mmm. I'd rather not, if'y'don' mind. Arthur Kinlay snorts. "I think we all share that sentiment." Lou Ann: So what're we wantin' t'do with these people when we pick 'em up? What, y'got somewhere to drop 'em off? Arthur Kinlay: Two. Either the Rangers, where you dropped off that goon the other night, or Corvic's clinic if they need treatment. It should do for a time. Lou Ann raises her eyebrow at him again. "How many are we talkin' here?" Arthur Kinlay shakes his head. "No idea... Depends if there were already some in the compound before they transfered the ones from Whitevale or not." Lou Ann shifts her weight and crosses her arms. She taps the thing in her ear again and continues reading the air in front of her. "Doesn't sound like the most sound plan, boss." she comments, and then continues reading. "These Raiders, they have any Justice ties?" Arthur Kinlay: Not that I know of, they seem like an independent group. I haven't dealt with them personally yet but I trust Kyrize. You don't have to take care of it if you don't want to, I won't force your hand. Lou Ann continues reading, swiping to her left as she does so, focusing on something else he can't see. "Mmm. Last thing I need, Justices on my tail. Any transport I get you'll be Darkspur colors. So long as they en't gonna shoot me down, I can do the job." Arthur Kinlay nods. "I'll speak with Ky and Corvic about it then... so long as you garantee none of them are just gonna end up switching ownership from one cartel to another." Lou Ann stops swiping and reading to tilt her head at him with her half lidded, 'are you fucking kidding me' face. She takes a deep breath and exhales, returning to her reading. "I don't deal in slave trade, Justice Kinlay. Some of us have -standards.-" Arthur Kinlay sniffs. If he's surprised by her calling him a Justice he doesn't make show of it. "I gathered as much for your lil' group, yeah, but can't the same for every Darkspur, hm? Just making sure." Lou Ann sounds downright bored with the very idea of it. "Yes, we won't get our friends involved f'you do the same." she swipes one more time, downward, and then presses the button in her ear again. "I think Q is enough, no one else needs't'get involved in this. More people get involved, higher chances someone messes up and we don't get Lil' Momma back. It's safer this way." She gives him the stare again. "I'll do m'best to get you a ship." Arthur Kinlay nods slowly. "Appreciated, and agreed. I've been in this for personal reason since the beginning... as you obviously know already." Lou Ann snorts through her nose and looks up at him. "Like an angry chained dagun whose owner went missin.' Are y'wantin' us t'be dropping down in this ship? Y'know, if I'm in the cockpit - which I probably will be - I won't be able't help out where I might be needed." Arthur Kinlay rubs the side of his nose again, in thought. "It'd probably be best if you touched down not far and accompanied us. We can walk whoever we get out of there back to the shuttle afterward.... We might need you around if something happens to Cabal." Lou Ann smirks at him, one ear twisting in his direction. "Mmm. She seems like the kinda person who's going to get shanked in the back, onna these days." She repockets her hands. "You seem like a good guard dog." Arthur Kinlay raises a brow. "I can't tell if I should be flattered or insulted..." Lou Ann's smirk grows wider. "How many compliments y'heard me say?" Arthur Kinlay snorts. "Not many, and they all sounded a bit backhanded." He shakes his head with a smirk. Lou Ann puts a hand up, as if to say 'well there you go, then.' Lou Ann: Y'got anything else y'want me to pass along to the boys? Arthur Kinlay: Bring your biggest guns, it'll be bloody. Lou Ann nods. "Good. They'll be happy to hear it. I'll bring my knives, for what it's worth." Arthur Kinlay nods. "I got the feeling we'll all be glad to have a medic with us." Lou Ann: Mm. Wish we could get more'n one, but that's our lot, ey? Arthur Kinlay splays his hands. "All the more reason not to get shot, aye?" Lou Ann scuffs her boot in the dirt again. "S'why I stick to computers, Justice. Less chance'a gettin' shot if everyone thinks y'got nothin' up yer sleeve but tech." Arthur Kinlay smirks. "Yeah well, we can'T all be clever like you techies, hm?" Lou Ann sighs dramatically. "If only. It would make my job much, much easier." She pockets her hands again, taking a step up and away from the stairs. She upnods to the coins. "Make sure y'use that on somethin' nice. WE're takin' Lil' Momma out for a night on'thtown, if she lets us." She waggles her eyebrows. "Better up yer game." Arthur Kinlay lets out a brief laugh. "I won't stop her if she's up for it... and I'll think of something." Arthur Kinlay: Hm, wouldn't sell yourselves too short... she likes you guys. Anyway... let's get her out of here first. Lou Ann nods in agreement. "Yeah. You need us, you call us." Lou Ann taps her ear. "Texting works better f'me. I'll send you a message if I c'n get you a ship." Arthur Kinlay nods. "Got it. I'll keep you updated as well." Lou Ann turns back towards the entrance. She doesn't bother waving, only makes a humming noise in her throat of approval.
I ship Lou Ann and Taylor from The Bean Trees. Especially after that part when they're talking about how Taylor acts like a husband and Lou Ann acts like her wife? They complete each other. Taylor's independent and reckless personality compliments Lou Ann's conservative and worrisome manner and oh my Lord how I ship it.
