“ ❗❗❗ ” - ( @monbellemonstre - an unexpected kiss from Lestat to a mortal Louis, for science)

They've been dancing around this for weeks now. Louis has always found Lestat beautiful but he's hiding a part of himself from him. The part that is attracted to men. He's become so used to hiding that it doesn't occur to him that Lestat might feel the same.

Not until this very moment where suddenly Lestat pulls him into a kiss, hidden away in the corner of the a sort of bar that Lestat had invited him to. No one sees them, it's just the two of them, and Louis feels like all time has stopped.

Despite how surprised he is, with those hands on his cheeks and those lips against his own, the mortal relaxes against the vampire. His brother hitches and then he's returning the kiss, lips pressing softly against Lestat's. Unsure, at first, if only because he's stll surprised.

But the longer they kiss, the more he becomes comfortable and not as unsure. His hand lifts to cup Lestat's cheek and he leans forward, trying to get as close to Lestat as he possibly can despite the table in front of the booth getting in the way.

Lestat kisses him in a way that makes his head spin and his heart to thump loudly in his chest. He doesn't think his heart has ever beat this fast before. Louis deepens the kiss by tilting his head and parting his lips to allow tongues to meet and brush against each other.

If it was up to Louis, there would be no blood upon his person at all. He would not be sticky with the crimson liquid that covers his mouth and clothing.

He hates feeding, he hates killing, this was not something done out of hunger but out of need. Survival. Survival that has nothing to do with his hunger and yet still, his need to live.

Attacking someone simply isn't in his nature but he had been attacked first. How they knew what he is, he doesn't know. Maybe it's the inhuman eyes, maybe they're trained to look for it, but Louis had been lucky to get out of the entire situation without a scratch.

"Don't get excited, Lestat." He knows what the other must think, that he has finally given into his darker urges and succumbed to the monster inside that is always lurking.

"I didn't hurt anyone because I was hungry. They attacked me." Yes, coming here covered in blood had been intentional, but not in the way Lestat surely thinks it was.

This is home and Lestat is far stronger than he is, should the foolish humans decide to follow him - they will be walking into their doom.

"Vampire hunters." Everything is still so new to Louis but that is the only explanation that he can possibly think of when they'd caught onto who he was so fast.

"I didn't have time to dispose of the body." Which complicates things, he knows, but it was either take off or be met with the group of vengeful hunters. He'd made his escape while he could, out of a need to survive. He thinks Lestat would rather want him out alive than to die trying to dispose of evidence.

"What did you do?" He says it before he can think better of it, but isn't a perfectly reasonable thing to ask? Feeding doesn't usually end in blood covering Lestat. Sure, maybe there is a little that lingers behind, but he's not usually covered in blood so terribly.

And then that brings up a question that has Louis' gaze softening at Lestat. No longer spitting out something accusatory, he takes a couple of steps towards Lestat, eyes trailing up and down his body - searching for any injuries he may have sustained.

"Are you alright?"

"Or what?" Louis challenges with a narrow of his eyes at Lestat. They are like fire and gasoline, colliding against each other in a fiery explosion of anger and passion. As much as Louis hates it, there is no one else in the entire world that understands him like Lestat does, even when he doesn't.

Their love is explosive but passionate and Louis would gladly burn for Lestat, would gladly let him consume him whole if that is what it took. How messed up is that? Louis is well aware their relationship is far from perfect, from healthy, but damn if he doesn't love him. He's willing to walk through hell and back for his Maker, even when he tries to tell himself he won't.

The mere fact that he is rooted to his spot instead of taking off is a true testament to how much sway Lestat has over him as well as how much the younger vampire loves him.

He can not bring himself to leave, not when Lestat seems so distraught at the thought of him leaving. He should, his mind screams at him to leave, but his heart foolishly tells him to stay and he is happy to play the fool right now.

The silence that stretches between them doesn't do anything to ease his suspicions. Lestat does this often and Louis has come to expect the man to come back from wherever he goes freshly fed.

He hates it when he does this. When he comes in here with fresh blood taunting him like this, testing the limits of his self control and the hunger that gnaws at him more often than not. He won't let his control slip, he cannot, for he does not want to live his life that way. He does not want to be a monster.

Louis knows Lestat just as much as the other vampire knows him. He knows that the silence is settled because Lestat is annoyed by his reaction just as much as he knows that Lestat is hiding something.

Two could play at this game, if Louis really wanted to. He could pretend he's not concerned, pretend like he doesn't care and that will certainly drive Lestat mad when he has come to expect getting a rise out of Louis.

However, the fresh scent of the blood and no scent of death anywhere near them stops Louis from entertaining playing their little games. Lestat is indeed hiding something and Louis has sneaking suspicions of what that something else actually is.

It is Louis' turn to tilt his head but for an entirely different reason than Lestat had. He's tuning into his senses, listening around them for a heartbeat that indicates what he thinks might be true.

If Lestat does not have his victim here, he has them somewhere else. The question here is what what would posses Lestat to risk someone finding said victim by keeping them alive?

"Lestat." This time Louis' voice is sharper, firmer. He knows he risks pissing his love off by doing so but he doesn't care either, not when Lestat is playing his own games with Louis.

"You left him alive, I can tell. Why? Where is he?"

Is that right? Louis' eyebrows raise in silent question. Lestat isn't going to kill every man who looks at him wrong....is he? It wouldn't be the first time he's been stared at by another man with lustful eyes but that's hardly a reason to kill someone. He's not sure if he should be flattered or upset by the willingness in which Lestat would murder for him.

"Are you jealous?" Louis can't help the initial poke at Lestat, "And how's that, Lestat? You gonna kill every man who so much as looks at me? That doesn't sound like a very safe plan for us."

Ah. That's his Lestat. Dramatic as usual. Pretending to be indifferent had been for his own amusement but it sounds as if Lestat is getting tired of his games. The curl of his lips is unmistakable as he closes the book he is reading to look over at his Maker.

As beautiful as ever, he thinks as he places the book to the side and rises to his feet. "You want my attention? Is that it?" Oh, he knows that it's exactly what Lestat wants but he can play, can't he?

It's like playing with fire but Louis has never minded the burn, not when it comes from his lover. "Fine. You have it." Louis comes to a stop in front of Lestat, leaning in close so that his lips brush against Lestat's.

Yet, he does not kiss him. It's a barely there ghosting of his lips, meant to tease rather than give Lestat what he is looking for. "Now what?"

It's sweet of her to worry like she is but Louis doesn't want her to worry. She should be worrying about other things, things that aren't him. They've always had a close bond from the moment he saved her and he's always thought of her as a daughter.

Which is why he hates that she is worrying about him. She always has, especially when Lestat is around. Sometimes, it amuses him how much she despises him. Other times, he wishes they'd get along.

Right now, he doesn't much care about their relationship. All he cares about is making sure Claudia is okay. If that means lying to her, so be it, though he rather avoid that entirely.

He doesn't want to admit to her that he hasn't slept in what felt like weeks but he doesn't want to lie to her either. She'll know, anyway. Claudia has always been an observant girl, she knows when he's upset or depressed, she knows when he doesn't sleep.

Sometimes, Louis wonders why she bothers asking at all.

"Don't you worry about that, Claudia." Louis settles on saying instead of outright denying or confirming that sleep has become rather difficult for him. "I'm doin' alright, don't worry about me.."
