LOUPOCALYPSE US TICKETS - Best Advice
I don’t know how relevant this is to the rest of the world, but with LT1 Tour tickets going on sale next week, I thought I’d put my best advice down. I’ve gotten tickets to every Solo 1D show that I’ve tried for (Small Venue Harry, Arena Harry, Small Venue Niall, Amphitheater Niall, Poptopia) plus I regularly practice on really small venues just to keep up. (I know this is weird, but you should just go with me on it).
I don’t want to make folks more anxious than they already are, but these venues are SMALL.
BUILD A TEAM - Enlist non-fandom and fandom friends alike. Can a non-fandom friend take 30 minutes out of their day? I realize it’s not the current situation, but I definitely got LOTS of folks to sign up for codes for Arena Harry. Do you have fandom friends in different time zones? The more folks you have trying, the better the chances.
KNOW WHEN YOUR PRESALES START - From what I can tell, Artist Presale is going to be October 29 in the US. I don’t know how codes are going out. But be sure you are looking.
START 30 MINUTES EARLY - Get ready. Get in your headspace. Make sure all your details are right. Sometimes there’s a queue and sometimes not. Go check. If there’s not one at 30 minutes, check at 20 and 10 and 5. Sometimes this page puts you in line, sometimes it doesn’t.
USE 2 DEVICES - There’s a lot of the internet that actually recommends using more than 2 devices. But my brain can’t handle that. I can do 2 things at once, on a good day. So I use my phone and my computer. Don’t be in more than one tab at a time.
MAKE SURE YOUR PAYMENT SHIT IS RIGHT - Check your credit card and address in your Ticketmaster/Live Nation account. Don’t fuck with that shit in the moment. I got all the way to the end for Glasto tickets and fucked it up because I didn’t have the right credit card info. Don’t make this mistake.
USE THE CLOCK - For Ticketmaster, there are several different clocks. If I remember, there’s actually like 3. You can click through and it is saving your tickets. So, if you do need to check on something you can have a minute. (This is more relevant for seats than GA).
KEEP TRYING - You’ll often get a no seats notification, but keep trying. Keep refreshing. People time out and throw tickets back. Keep trying for 30-60 minutes. I know that seems like FOREVER, but I’ve known folks who have gotten them much much later.
WATCH FOR A SECOND/THIRD SHOW - There are places all over the schedule where there seems to be room to add another show. So, if you’re not having luck, go back to the page and see if another one gets added. (A friend lucked into this with MSG and ended up with pit seats for the whole fam).
ASK FOR THINGS - If you don’t get tickets and you feel like you want to cry, talk about it on Tumblr. Let people know you’re looking. I got a second ticket for SF Harry because I was open about needing one. I have found this fandom to be incredibly generous.
There are other folks who have had really good luck as well, so feel free to hijack with any and all additional advice.
I just keep thinking about Louis playing these multi-artist shows and getting the loudest response. Can you IMAGINE what the LT1 Tour will look like? When 100% of the audience is there just for him. Talk about the floor shaking. Only the best for the King.
Text from my ex-husband who also lost his mom to cancer (4/24/2019)
Can we talk for a second about how fucking smart a global release is? And how much it takes a streaming model in to account?
It’s smart for at LEAST two reasons but probably lots more, feel free to add on:
Global attention/panic. Everyone focused on the same thing at the same time is guaranteed to make it trend on every platform possible.
Maximizing streaming. In the past Australia/New Zealand got it first, and upload for the rest of us. Then we spend hours listening to the song but not counting for streaming on any chart. So now there are no lost streams.
It also allows all of us to share in a moment and be together which is super cool.
Last year’s Jingle Ball lineup was announced on October 9, 2018. That would be some REALLY interesting timing with a second single, etc. It’s also after every Louie has sold their soul to get to San Jose.
