        Dib  wasn’t  going  to  take  this.  He  knew  EVIL  when  he  saw  it,  &&  now  he  heard  it.  The  boy’s  fingers  clench  into  tight  fists,  his  eyes  narrowing  behind  glasses.  Calling  him  crazy  was  one  thing,  but  talking  about  him  as  if  his  family  hated  him  ?  No.  No  way.  That  wasn’t  going  to  be  tolerated.  He  wouldn’t  give  the  other  a  chance  to  apologize.  Didn’t  even  think  on  that  one  bit.  No,  instead  he  lunges  at  Lou  with  closed  fist.  

         B A M  !  All  of  the  boy’s  rage  comes  out  through  the  punch  right  in  that  stupid  face.  &&  he  wasn’t  done  there.  Dib  wrestles  the  other  to  the  ground,  absolutely  furious  as  he  hisses  words  fueled  with  hatred  at  him.

         Dib  hadn’t  been  home  or  at  school  in  who  knows  how  long.  He  merely  sits  against  a  building  on  the  street,  going  over  a  notebook  he’d  already  read  hundreds  of  times.  Yet  the  words  still  seem  foreign.  Details  of  an  experiment  to  create  a  clone  of  an  alien  with  human  DNA.  This  experiment  was  successful  when  a  child  had  been  made  with  a  heartbeat,  able  to  live  without  assistance  from  a  PAK.  As  he  reads  this  another  time,  a  shocked  yell  suddenly  escapes  him  when  the  notebook  is  yanked  from  him.  Instantly  he  jumps  up,  ready  to  take  it  back  only  to  glare  in  the  face  of  his  enemy.  Lou.  Of  course,  it  just  had  to  be  him.

          “  Give  that  back.  ”  Dib  glares  at  him,  but  there’s  a  hint  of  desperation  in  his  voice.  He  can’t  let  anyone  find  out.
