I saw @missfortunetherogue do this ages ago - hope you don't mind if I join in belatedly 💜
Zethino the Dryad asks you how well you know your love interest. But what would the answer be, if your love interest was asked?
Rules: Think of three* answers with approval, disapproval and explanation.
*I cheated and did four lol
Zethino: The heart is fraught, so let us begin with the joyous. When are they happiest?
Whenever they're with me (Astarion). +1
Funny and half-true, but not the very best answer.
In the evenings at our camp. +2
Yes! The adventure with the tadfools is huge for Jamie because it's the first time they've had a community. As much as they love Astarion, being with the whole group is especially meaningful for them.
In battle - they're always grinning! -1
It's true Jamie has a battle grin and they can find enjoyment in fighting, but that's not when they're happiest. Their patron actually makes them smile when they spill blood. Astarion doesn't know that yet during early Act 3 though, so if he chose this answer it wouldn't upset Jamie.
They were happiest when they were a child. -2
Straight-up a cruel answer. Jamie's childhood was lonely, dangerous, and traumatic.
Zethino: Many things delight the heart, but only one makes it sing. Tell me, what do they desire more than anything?
To be free of their patron. +0
In early Act 3, Jamie actually doesn't want to break their pact. Despite the downsides of being bound to that entity, Jamie's entire life is built around them. Jamie sees this patron as having saved them, and while Jamie doesn't worship their patron exactly, they're not exactly ready to cut ties. (And even if they were... good luck.)
Jamie doesn't know what they want. -1
This is the correct answer, but Jamie wouldn't really want to hear it, even though they know deep down it's true.
To learn how to read. -1
Yeah, Jamie would like to learn, but it's not the thing they want most. Plus, they don't really want Zethino (or any other rando) to know that they can't read.
A big bowl of spicy, warm soup. +1
This is never not true. Jamie is always game for a big bowl of spicy, warm soup.
Zethino: Fear sits in the soul of all - to tame it, we must name it. Jamie - what is their deepest fear?
Returning to life on the streets. +1
True. Jamie never needs luxury or even stability, and they want to live freely and go on adventures, but they also want access to food and basic necessities and shelter. They never want to sleep outside solely because they have no other choice. Sleeping outside for fun is a different thing.
Talona and her cult. +0
Jamie doesn't fear Talona (they think she's a lazy, uninvolved pseudo-goddess), but they faced a lot of trauma at the hands of her cultists that does haunt them. Jamie feels more resentment than fear towards Talona's followers.
That they'll hurt the people around them again. +2
This is the best answer. Jamie's childhood was rough but took a turn for the worse when they were thrown out of their orphanage for accidentally killing someone before they learned to control their magic. They still live with guilt and fear that their magic—which is now boosted by their warlock pact but remains taboo and incredibly volatile—will cause them to hurt someone else.
Vampires. +1
Couldn't be further from the truth, but it's so absurd that it's funny. Jamie would laugh.
Astarion: Well... You were right every time. I almost wish you hadn't been, but you do know me...
poor, sweet astarion. being known by someone who loves you IS intimidating, it's true.
i have so many thoughts about the love test though. for obvious reasons in game it's just the player/tav answering questions about their love interest, but in universe it must go both ways, right? and now i am consumed thinking about what questions astarion would be asked about roz and the fact that i dont know if he'd be able to get them right. roz is so buttoned up and astarion doesn't ask. and how scary would that be?
