The 20th edition of Amsterdam’s Gay Pride boat parade is taking place in the capital on August 1st 2015, attended by tens of thousands of people. The theme of this year’s event is ‘share the love, love the differences’ and it attracted visitors from all over the world.

American Dichotomy

The concept of "self-other" dichotomy is ingrained in American culture, and in how Europeans respond to the world. It is actually so deep, that the humanistic perspective of what's "natural v. unnatural" is actually the difference between "NOT manmade v. Manmade," respectively. This is important as other cultures: Hispanic, African, and Asian, for instance, do not attempt to divorce humanity from nature, rather, marry humanity and nature, with harmony.

What I'm getting at, is simple: when you make a distinction between forms of existence, you may begin to dictate that which is greater or lesser. Especially when you include yourself on one side, and the rest of existence on the other.
