Geeky Lion's Lovebug Fund
So about a month ago I met a wonderful little cat I nicknamed Lovebug. I had never met this cat before in my entire life, but the first thing she did upon meeting me was sit in my lap and rub all over as a sweet little greeting. At the time she was in good health - glossy, thick fur, good gums and teeth, healthy weight and beautiful shining eyes. My family and I decided she clearly belonged to a family and just fed her for the night and never really thought about it again.
Fast forward to yesterday (4/11/14). My mother saw her outside our porch again and decided to pet her. The sweet, healthy cat is now all skin and bones and shedding, dirty fur. I used to grunt when picking her up - she is a big kitty for a girl - and now she's as light as a feather. It's clear her family just dumped her near my neighborhood. Lovebug was in heat when we met her a month ago and is now showing signs of potentially being pregnant.
My family can't keep her simply because we already have five cats (three rescued) and two dogs (one rescued) and we just don't have the room. I'm not exactly a fan of local shelters (older cats are almost never adopted out) and I'd rather not take her to one. We have agreed to let her be our family outside-sometimes-comes-inside cat.
There's just one issue, I'm a full time student with no income as of now. My parents already let me bum off of them for the time it will take me to finish my degree.
Here's where you come in, Tumblr. I've never asked for donations before but in order to get Lovebug in a healthy state - fixed, vaccinated, checked for pregnancy and any placement fees for kittens - I'm going to need donations. My goal in the end is 200$. Having had my male rescue taken to the vet a few years back I remember his bill costing around 100$, but male cats are infinitely less complicated to fix than females and there isn't the potential of pregnancy. 200$ is a safe number and anything not used in her vet bills would be then donated to local shelters or my local humane society.
