When you feel like you are being guided
Monday a lot of things happened, some freaking fantastic and some that weren’t so good. As you already probably know I will only be talking on here about the things that happen with my project that I have been working hard on. Monday like any other day when people where passing in their cars they had a need to yell things at me. But there were 2 cars that came by that I could hear clearly what they were saying when it comes to mixed review comments. What I mean by that is they had a lot of truth to them, but when the people yelled them they weren’t acknowledged of my story or of my background so as far as their comments go they were being car trolls. The first car that went by yelled “GO HELP OUT AT A SOUP KITCHEN!!!!.” There is a valid point there I could go help out a soup kitchen if I knew I had the means to get there. But even if I did help out at a soup kitchen I would still come back to my spot on the corner were I hold my signs. Because making people smile is just as important as helping those who need it. Better attitudes means better service and better service means more chances of employment. And more employment means the chance of getting hired.
Later the car drove by and yelled “GET A JOB!!!” and I responded with “MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY IS A JOB!!!!” Which by the way is a super rough job because you can’t make people be happy. You can only give them a opportunity to make the subconscious choice to be happy. And to tell you the truth I was thinking at that moment that they probably thought I was begging for money because they were too far away to see what my sign was saying.
After these to incidents I was kind of about to give up for the day when a complete stranger snuck up behind me and then asked for a hug. They began to tell me that they were having a bad day and I brightened their day up and that they wanted to thank me for that. I was so happy in that moment. Not just because I brightened his day up or got a free hug, but the kid that was standing behind that was frowning the whole time while waiting to cross on the crosswalk was now smiling and in a good mood as well. It was definitely a good moment.
Then about 15 minutes to an half an hour later another man came up behind me, this time the man had a smiley faced balloon tied to a loooooooonnnnnngggg ribbon. When he got to me he gave me the balloon he told me thank you for making everyone smile and that he wanted to give me a reason to smile as well. That made me so very happy. You don’t know how happy about that balloon I am. It is day 3 of having it and when I hold up my sign I make sure to tie the balloon to my satchel so it is right there with me. Usually I don’t accept gifts from strangers when I am working with my sign because it tends to defeat the purpose of me holding up my signs, but this gift was something that could assist me as I hold my sign so I could not help but take it. Also IT WAS A BALLOON!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW COULD I NOT ACCEPT A BALLOON?!?!?!?!?!?! THEY ARE FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!
My last story happened literally a minute after the balloon guy left. A man in his car tried to hand me money. I don’t know how much it was because I never got close enough to take it. I just letted him know that I don’t hold up my signs for money but thanked him for his kindness. As he drove away he told me to have a good day and all I could think was “I am having a good day today so many amazing things are happening.”
