Successfully Self-Accepting ❣️
Hey everyone, I'm starting this blog because I hit a big milestone in my journey of self-love and acceptance.
Believe it or not, it happened because I dipped my toes into the Good Omens fandom. The love and acceptance shown towards Aziraphale's figure finally allowed me to look at my body through the same eyes. Its always the things you never expect or see coming that blindside you with beauty and understanding.
I cried that night from the overwhelming relief and love I felt staring at my body in the mirror for the first time in my life and, not only not hating what I saw, but finally loving and accepting what was looking back at me. I hadn't even realized how bad my self image had been before that moment, looking into my own eyes and seeing nothing but hints love and apology mixing with the tears.
It can be hard, so hard, to actually see yourself the way your friends and SOs see you. To be able to feel the proof of it all. The naked truth of the years of walls made of lies and half-truths you built around your self-image, crumbling right to dust. Finding love (small and trampled, but still there) waiting behind those walls, waiting for you to find and nurture it back to health and vibrance once more.
The journey is long and full of hardship, but it's so incredibly worth all of the the time and effort you bleed into it, because you are worth it. Everything that makes you so uniquely you is worth loving and cherishing right down to things that you may believe at the moment are flaws. Care for yourself, because it does get better, it gets so much better. You just might not see it yet.
Bahamas life.
