i say pe-cahn or pe-can but never pee but i dont think i count because im in california and have a weird out of place southern accent and socialize with people in new york

That is the ruins of the Sutro Baths. It was a public swimming complex, but now the remains of the structure are part of the park. It’s an awesome place.

I guess it's just a turn of phrase we use around here if we were raised in the catholic/episcopal church - it has nothing to do with age, we say it to young/old alike. I live in the deep south and I'm surrounded by southern baptist raised folks, so it's something we say to others we know aren't baptist.

If I had to guess, I'd think you were in your 30s - old enough to have your shit together and not to give that many fucks about other people's opinions.

Thanks for explaining, I guessed it was something like that but I’m nosy curious enough to want to know for sure :)

And you’re in the right area with the age - I’d agree on the giving of fucks and I’ll refrain from comment on whether or not I have my shit together...

haha i tried to watch orange is the new black but literally every moment in a prison i expect a shanking or a fucking its too much for my nerves \o/

I’ve never seen it but I know I’d compare it to Oz too much, I already do whenever someone tries to tell me about it. But yes, from what I’ve heard, there’s likely significantly less shanking and maiming and graphic traumatic violence.

I watched Oz with my mom the last few seasons. My mom is not a cool mom either, but she rolled with it pretty good.

Oh, man, I don’t think I could even watch Oz with someone else in the room, let alone with my mom (she would be horrified and disgusted beyond belief by the end of episode one, especially because she thinks so fondly of Chief Pope from the Closer).

I married a man that claims to have watched Oz, but he didn’t recall it the way a fangirl/fanboy would, so even if someone has seen the show, they won’t see it for the splendid glory that was Beecher/Keller and the true fucked-up-ness that was Chris Keller.

If you don’t have a million kind of confused but very fervent feelings about Beecher/Keller, you didn’t watch Oz correctly.

I know!! I thought she might have some reservations (I mean, I did mention all of his greatest hits: the murders, the breaking all of Toby’s limbs, the killing himself but framing Toby for it in hopes that Toby gets death row...) but she didn’t even question it. I’m wondering the likelihood of me being the only one in that room who’s ever seen the show before. (Beecher/Keller is always a little hard to explain to first-timers...)
