“I learned from doing my [solo] album - because I didn’t have any restrictions on when I had to stop. So I really felt like I learned that that’s very important and necessary for writing an album, like making art in general. I don’t think [it helps] having money constraints, and time constraints, and worries about deadlines based on other people in the music business side. I feel like for [Warpaint], I want to go into being as self-sufficient as possible; learning how to really record ourselves and do things as much ourselves as possible. Like how a painter will paint and they don’t get someone to come in and tell them what tint of orange they should use or where they should place it on the canvas. A painter just does their painting and it comes from them, and I think that’s something I want to translate to our music even more.”
