Ryou had at first assumed something else might come up. He, might not even have gotten upset if Yugi genuinely forgot for no reason. But as his friend didn't even seem to check the message he sent, he just decided to go there himself. Stopping by the bakery on the way, while he was at it.

" Hey Yugi" he greeted. " Oh don't worry about it. That sounds more than a little troublesome. I hope you didn't lose all your work"

Ryou understand too well how lost one gets. Having gotten lost in his own crafting and writing, and plenty of times, that time just passes without you noticing.

And of course, the small detail of being a Game Developer at the same Company also. Even if Ryou's expertise lies with script writing and Game Testing, and not coding like Yugi. Despite this, Royu understood why his friend got so lost, all too familiar with time crunch and deadlines. Or just getting lost just as much in your work as in your hobbies, more so if you enjoy what you do.

Admittedly, there is frustration that comes with it too, especially if you are more in a lead role. But this works for you.

They didn't always get to work on the same projects, sadly enough. So Ryou wasn't even sure what his friend was currently working on that had him in such a pickle. He can't recall any upcoming deadlines either.

"It's all good! Don't stress, you know that rushing it will just give worse results," Ryou assured his friend. Dropping the small bag of the baker next to him on the table. If he forgot the time, he most likely forgot the food too.

"If you need help, just ask. I can take a look too?" While. yes. Programming was Yugi job, and he certainly was better at it, Ryou dabbled in coding too, even if not professionally.

Admittedly, he dabbled in a lot that is not in his job description. Tech, code … he is curious, he can't help it. And it isn't like he went in with zero experience either. His first Laptop specification was made to calculate states for his Monster World game. Not something anybody casual would have.

So yes, he looked into tech and coding too, even if it doesn't follow it professionally.

Well, it’s not like that was the first time Joey’s heard that in his life. And considering his track record… he was gonna go ahead and assume it definitely won’t be the last time either. However, when Ryou said it to him in this case… he actually wasn’t sure what he meant this time around. Did he forget something? Oh crap, was it an important date? He didn’t think so… he didn’t remember making a promise or plans with him that he would have not done, that definitely didn’t sound like something he’d do. Or if he did it wasn’t intentional. He finally admits defeat and gives the white-haired male a sheepish grin.

“Alright, you’re gonna have ta help me a little… what did I miss?” He asks him finally, brown eyes now reflecting his more obvious confusion. “Or was it something I said? Was it too much?”

Its intressting how Joey is the most outgoing and sociable out of there entire group, but at the same time Joey could be the most oblivious when it came to social clues.

Ryou on the other hand, despite being rather quiet and tending to fade into the background, was more obewrsavnt as one would give him credit for and while he keept to himself most of the time, only interjecten every so often - it was, different when you are what he considers a friend.

In this case, while being rahter blunt with Joey he also was teasing him a little bit. Though his voice remaind soft and more neutral, making the later had the figure out if you miss the small smile on his lips.

He considers for a moment whether he should tell him. If there really was a need for it. But, not really? It wouldn't change anything, and it didn't seem important to him. And nothing that would come back to harm Joey .. probably.

And with Joey being one of his closest friends? His mischievous side wins.

" hm, yknow. It probably wasn't that important, " Ryou hummed with a shrug, a soft smile on his lips. As if he wasn't teasing Joey right about now.

Ryou kept humming as he turned to continue the walk. " We wanted to grab something to eat, right?"

"You're the best, Ryou," Yugi replies, turning his head away and covering his mouth with his elbow as he coughs. "I really appreciate it... I know Atem does too, even if he isn't awake right now." Luckily Yugi's fever seemed to have broken a lot quicker, and he was at least better off when it came to not being nearly as tired. He was clearly still running warmer since he had opted for one of his black tanks and a pair of loose shorts." "I can pay you back for everything, by the way. I really could have gone out to get it myself if I needed to."

"That's not necessary, Yugi, what are friends for." he gave the smaller male a smile. " And no, you shouldn't have," he put it plainly. Mild-mannered he may be, but he can and will be blunt if he has to.

" ahh, I guess his body hasn't fully adjusted yet?" Ryou looked in the direction he assumed Atem's room would be before his gaze settled back on Yugi. " I'm glad to see you doing better, though. "

"But you still should get some rest, take the soup and sit down. I will make you guys some tea"

Ryou enjoyed late evenings, the night. Despite everything, he still felt drawn to it. But he was always someone who enjoyed what others would consider creepy or eerie.

Ending up on the pier is new, though. Somewhere in the city, a park, even a graveyard, sure, but how his feet carried him here today certainly wasn't as common.

Ryou looked at the message Yugi had sent him not to long ago, something was bugging him about it. Not him sending a message was unusual, no. Or asking for a meet-up. Just something. Maybe the time? But it wasn't really worth worrying about it, he already agreed, so he would figure it out then.

Ryou had sat down on the edge of the asphalt, feet dangling above the water. Watching the stars reflecting in the water. That was until he heard something, something like a bottle being hit by a foot, sending it rolling around. And while this didn't make Ryou turn around, it at least made him look over his shoulder.

He did see someone, but couldn't quite make them out. How had he not heard the steps before?
