What do we do when we feel restless? We bake enough chocolate chip banana bread for the entire shop and play with our letter board!🍞🍌 Real talk though, there is a 50/50 chance that I might cut my bangs with the way this deployment has me feeling. When we started our kitchen reno it was an absolute mess. There was sawdust in every nook and cranny, our patience had started to wear thin, it felt like it was taking F O R E V E R and we had family coming to visit. Stress was at an all time high. I remember you took me by the hand and pulled me close in this corner of the kitchen that I like to perch in while working from my phone. Here we enjoyed our first slow dance and let the radio static carry all our worry away... Though I had to finish our kitchen solo due to deployment, it has taught me a great deal. Similar to sanding these stubborn cabinets, you gotta get through the hard gritty parts before you can really see all that you've accomplished. I pray that the remainder of this deployment goes smoothly and is guided by all the love and prayers needed to bring our loved ones home safe, and sound. Wishing my amazing husband a very special fathers day! You knew this from the start, parenting would come to you like a walk in Jurassic Park! There would be moments where it would feel calm and steady, then others where it feels like just trying to survive. You guide Blaire like a steady hand from shoe strings to mathematics. Theres been no task you haven't taken on with optimism and pride. I see you glow when he asks if you want to play and you're never too tired to give him one on one attention. You two have such an incredible bond, blaire always says how lucky he is to call you dad. You've taken on a huge responsibility and play such an important roll in our lives. You went from single sailor to all American Dad! You stayed up til 3am to facetime our boy while he walked across the stage and graduated 5th grade! You've cleaned up vomit way too many times, hunted for Pokemon for hours, become king of burger making, had serious talks, and lots of laughs! You sacrifice so much for our family and for our country.
