Swedish elector-pop/neo-soul favorites Little Dragon have surprised us with sudden news of a new EP (oddly enough, their first ever) and its lead single! The band recently signed to iconic Ninja Tune. Lover Chanting will be their inaugural release on the label, and its title track is a grooving blend of bass-heavy electronica, R&B sensibilities, and twirling disco. There’s a smooth panache to the posh anthem that denotes a new path for Little Dragon as they explore fresh territory with their new music. They bring an airy and fun lightness to their sound on Lover Chanting, of which they say: “For all the lovers out there, chant along! Dance for peace and unity in this world of madness!” Lead singer Yukimi Nagano adds that their coming EP is about: “The force of love. Not only between two people but the force of love in this universe as the ultimate ecstasy. Whether that is while you’re dancing at a disco forgetting where you are or just staring at the moon on a clear night, it can be anything. A swim in the ocean, a glance at a stranger--it’s a personal individual thing. Call it what you want but we have all felt it. So, embrace the great mystery of everything that your brain can’t grasp and lose track in the most beautiful sense.” Little Dragon will be embarking on a limited tour this week, mainly on the East Coast. Shows in DC and Brooklyn have already sold out. They’ll also appear at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA and House of Creatives Music & Arts Festival in Miami come November.
