The fight was over quickly. Soon, a good fifteen bodies littered the clearing, the bandits either dead or dying. Some were burned to a crisp and were hardly recognizable, others had suffered his blade’s kiss, and others still lie with broken bones and snapped necks. The last two abandoned the idea of joining their fallen brothers, and turned and fled. ‘Twas a pity he could not allow them to live to speak of this.
They were yards away now, but in an instant, he stood directly in front of them. The first tried to slow to a stop, but he’d gained too much momentum. He ran directly into Xiro’s sword, impaling himself upon it. The Jack watched as the light died in the man’s eyes before giving the body a hearty shove to dislodge his blade from its chest. The second did not stop to see his comrade fall, and instead kept running, making a beeline for the woods. His friend’s body had not even hit the grass before he felt a dagger between his shoulder blades. Xiro watched him drop before calling the knife back to his hand.
As he cleaned both the dagger and his sword of crimson, he surveyed his handiwork. Bandits had a tendency to gang up on their prey, but seventeen to one lonely traveler sure did seem like overkill. He had to wonder if they somehow knew of the fight that awaited them, but more than likely that had simply been over eager. These boys did seem rather green, after all, and were far easier to kill than most. He was likely just overthinking it.
That was when he sensed it: a change in the air, a new scent on the wind. Someone was near. Someone powerful, who made the trees creak as if speaking their name. He turned in circles, examining the area closely, but there was no sign of anyone. Still, the feeling persisted. “I know you’re there,” he called out. “You may as well come out and face me.”

Joy turned to face the other, emerald eyes ablaze. "Leave!" she screamed, claws raised and ready for a fight.

It was an argument he was having a hard time to get over. It only happened minutes ago, but it felt like it’s already been hours since it started; he should be over it. He should be over it.
Hideo sharply exhaled, got the keys, and drove off. He’ll just run tomorrow’s errands tonight. At least he’ll be out of the mess for a little bit.

(”26: Pocky/Spaghetti Kiss” Hmmm how shall we do this?)
RJ was enjoying the pocky he was eating, Tsuki got it for him, an was a bit surprised when someone else started to eat the same stick. He smiled some though, even as their lips met, and he laughed, “Hey, that was my Pocky.”

Myra smiled in relief and didn’t hesitate to wrap her arms around Scarlet and just hold on tightly for a few moments, eyes closed and trying hard not to cry into her shoulder. Not just yet. “I’ve missed you so much Mom. Sorry I didn’t call ahead or anything.”
She pulled back after composing herself and smiled brightly, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Aren’t you going to let me in? Have you started dinner yet? I’m starving!”

Myra groaned at her mother's voice, having only gotten three-and-a-half hours sleep, as per usual. For the past three months, the 19-year-old had been sneaking out of the house and into the nearby town at night to work as a burlesque dancer at the parlor. The hours were long, and the pay wasn't great, but it was enough for Myra. She wanted out of the desert, wanted to bring her mom back to a place where plants could thrive. If it weren't for the occasional cactus speaking to her, Myra would be sure that they were both crazy for believing she was Mother Nature.
Myra dragged herself out of bed and stretched out her sore muscles as she headed into the kitchen for her food. "Mornin' Mom. What's the plan today? Need me to get any supplies from town?" She couldn't help her yawn and hoped that Scarlet wouldn't think she was getting sick based on how exhausted she was.
