As a kid you wake up and get told what to do, generally given no choice. That’s why toddlers kick out so much over getting dressed. Asserting their need for control - they argue over putting socks on, brushing teeth, wriggle out of putting a tshirt on! The amount of times I’ve dressed my kids whilst they’re on the run! Giving them an choice over things that happen in their life, will make for an easier life all round. Besides knowing the plan makes everyone feel at ease doesn’t it? Don’t you get anxious if you don’t know what’s happening ? Like being taken on a surprise outing with no idea what you’re doing. Are you dressed appropriately, will you need food, what people are going to be there, will I need to be social, will I need equipment... all those types of things. Kids experience this everyday! Just expected to turn up and get on with it! A classic is falling asleep in the car and thrown into a party! Anyway it’s just good to know the plan, even if you end up breaking it, which also feels quite good. At least you and them can feel comforted that you’ve made a plan together and have a vague idea about what’s happening . #lettheminontheplan #plantogther #workingtogther #knowingwhatshappening #routineforkids #schoolholidays #security #loveroutine
