Overcome

They spoke their honeyed words You must overcome If you overcome, you will grow Honeyed to a bitter sweet flavor How can I overcome when I am overcome with that which threatens to tear me asunder

I am mixed, I am many, I am much I am overcome with joy and gratitude This life I have lived has been myriad, so much packed into such a short amount of time It has been forgiving, so many mistakes washed clean, only their lessons remain It has been giving, so many wonderful people, so many profound impacts upon my life I am overcome with a sense of great pride when I think about the many people I have helped

I am mixed, I am many, I am nothing I am overcome with grief and rage This life I have lived has been sorrow, so much packed into such a short amount of time It has been brutal, harsh testing in the savage ways of the world It has been gluttonous, feasting upon that which gave me peace So many wonderful people, so many profound impacts upon my life, lost to an insatiable void

I am mixed, I am muddled, I am many I am overcome with honeyed words I will overcome those too
