who starts putting up decorations in october? Giles. But only after halloween right? He doesn’t really do thanksgiving so Christmas is the next thing to get into!

who buys the advent calendars? Jenny. She gets a kick out of a Calendar buying a calendar! Also its something fun to do.

who places mistletoes all around the house? Jenny, if it’s not part of Giles’s decorating tornado. Any chance for more kisses.

who wraps the presents for other people? Giles, his wrapping jobs are better than hers. Jenny throws things in bags. Sometimes with tissue paper. 

who puts the final star/angel on the top of the christmas tree? Giles. He has the height. 

who’s the one that hates eggnog? Jenny. Giles likes it. 

who’s the one that bakes christmas cookies for guests? Giles. Jenny isn’t allowed to cook anything without supervision. 

who sends out the christmas cards? Jenny, although it’s christmas e-cards

who knows all the words to twelve days of christmas? Jenny. It’s taken over the radio. Also those padder songs are fun. Giles gets into it too, but it’s Jenny who starts the insanity. 

who’s the better snowman builder? Giles. Jenny grew up in warmer climates and has very little experience with snow. But he taught her. 

who starts snowball fights? Jenny. Do you even have to ask. 

who’s the one that wakes the other on christmas morning by playing christmas songs really loudly? Jenny. She wants presents. Also the excitement of the day is just too much to keep in!

        she didn’t want to be here.

         understatement — she wanted to be anywhere but here. new york was no place for the west coast california girl that buffy was; especially when the reason for the trip didn’t include maxing out her credit card at saks. no, the real reason for the trip was, presumably, standing on the other side of the wooden door she’d been perched in front of for the last twenty minutes. 

          pride, whether she liked it or not, was important to buffy. it’s what stopped her knuckles from connecting each time she raised her hand to knock. this wasn’t her. she didn’t travel across the country to ask the ghosts of the past for help. unfortunately, her dedication to saving lives outweighed the pain that webbed it’s way across her chest. 

           her arm, weighed down by guilt and hesitation, raises once more. this time, she doesn’t pull away before knocking once, twice...  the barrier fades, and so does whatever confidence she thought she could muster.

          “ —  i guess my invitation to your house warming party got lost in the mail, huh?”

When Natasha had left for the two week long op in Tokyo, she’d expected to return to a very pissed off vampire who refused to leave her side. Instead, she came back to a quiet, empty apartment without her usual annoyance. After the fifth week of his disappearance, she gave up on looking for him. If not even she could track him down, clearly he wanted nothing to do with her.

So imagine her surprise when she opened her door to find said vampire spread out on her couch like nothing had changed. A parade of thoughts flew through her head, but she landed on the most obvious- anger. “Figured you’d found someone else and skipped down. What, need a favor?” her tone was icy and distant, not even bothering to look at him as she made her way to the kitchen.

    Giles shot the vampire a wary look. Spike was right, though. The way they were chained were really uncomfortable (not as if there was ever a comfortable way of being chained up) with his arms twisted backwards and no leverage. Even with their captors nowhere in sight, his worry had only grown along with the hour.

another vampire has come to collinsport.

they could all shake their heads and deny it and laugh at her all they wanted, but maggie evans was on the warpath, and she had no intentions of backing down. she knew what a vampire attack looked like -- the gruesome aftermath was always consistent, the twin punctures on the throat an undeniable trademark. it was a declaration, as far as she was concerned; a cruel taunt, making a blatant mockery of the townspeople’s reluctance to acknowledge the MONSTERS that they live beside.

they may be fools for not taking heed of her warnings, but it was her town she was out to defend, not her ego. she did not blame them for their willful ignorance. that has always been their way, but it’s not so much a personal attack as it is a guard against insanity. they all knew deep down that there was more to collinsport’s mysterious deaths and disappearances than whatever evidence the inept police force could drudge up, but acknowledging that fact would mean exposing oneself to a hellish world of malicious forces and grotesque creatures. for most people, this was understandably too much to bear. it was certainly too much for her to bear, at least in the beginning.

but somebody had to rise to the occasion. 

so as dusk begins to fall over the town, maggie sets her sights upon the old cemetery, where the body of the poor victim had been found the night before. it might seem counter-intuitive for a murderer of any kind to revisit the scene of their crime so soon, even for a supernatural creature -- but in her experience, vampires didn’t tend to err on the side of caution as much as they should. that was their fatal mistake. 

armed with a silver cross around her neck and a wooden stake stashed discreetly in her boot, the girl creeps through the misty graveyard with a heavy flashlight in hand, taking care to avoid stumbling over one of the many headstones scattered haphazardly among the overgrown weeds. there is a faint rustle in the woods, one which anyone else might mistake for an animal, but maggie knows better -- those are the creeping footsteps of a person, or a person-shaped predator. she whips toward the direction of the sound, squinting as she shines her beam of light into the dark, vast expanse of woods before her.
