Last year my husband and I participated in the 30 day November Love your Spouse challenge. Each day we wrote down one thing we treasure about the other. Early in December, over chips and salsa at our favorite Mexican restaurant, I shared the following with him.
You are patient with me. I know sometimes I can be trying, moody and unpleasant. Somehow you find a way to be cheerful and understanding.
You trust my judgment enough to follow me when I lead.
When we are upset, you talk to me and we find solutions together.
You continue to try to make me happy long after the days of dating have passed. The simple gesture of preparing tacos for dinner makes me feel appreciated and valued.
I love watching you play with the boys. I am overwhelmed with love watching all 3 of you together.
You prioritize family over everything else. You make us feel loved, important and special. I hope we make you feel the same way.
You are my partner. You are supportive in every way. You never make me feel inferior or unimportant. You encourage and love me.
You are always right by my side, no matter what is going on in our lives. Nothing has scared you away yet. You are like a strong oak tree with deep roots and I absolutely adore that about you.
You always talk to me , make me sit down and stop to discuss things with you. I am by nature very quiet and private, but you have found a way to open me up. You are my best friend. The one who knows everything about me.
You help me around the house. It is important to you to ensure you are helping me and that only increases my love for you. This shows me you care. As you know, I am a firm believer in actions speak louder than words. My love for you grows stronger every day.
You are quick to apologize. We are only human so inevitably we both do things we wish we wouldn’t, but you are almost always the one to apologize first.
You work hard for our family. It really means a great deal to you to provide for us.
You protect us like a grizzly bear. Anytime you get scared for us this primal, protective side comes out in you. I know that you would do anything to keep us safe.
Your heart is true and pure. I trust you, no questions asked. I know you will always do the right thing.
We have the same vision for our family and we work together to achieve it.
You still give me butterflies and I get excited when we have a date night. It’s incredible to love someone like I love you.
You make me feel lucky every single day. For the longest time, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop because I felt like everything was just too good to be true. Now I just enjoy every single day I get to spend with you and think to myself “I must be the luckiest girl in the world”.
You love the holidays and meals with family are more important than any materialistic gift.
You keep the holidays special and put the magic in them for our family.
Your eyes light up my heart and your heart warms my soul.
