Life is like a patchwork quilt or a song. It started long before you, and now you get to add your own patch, your own verse to it. And after you, others will add their own. It's beautiful, isn't it? How life goes on, how we are all connected. And not just humans, but all life on Earth. How every verse is equally important. The song would not be be the same if you remove one. The world would not be the same without the humble earthworm, without the baby that only lived a few hours. Her life, and the love people felt for her, is just as important.
I'm glad we get to share our life and our love with each other. But love is just as beautiful and important when the beloved isn't there to see it. The love for the verse written centuries ago, or by the father you never got to meet. The love for your verse, from people who will be born after you're gone.
It can be easy to hestitate, to worry about writing the perfect verse, about living the perfect life, when we only get to live one, short life. But no life will ever be more perfect than another. Just make it rich. Make it yours. And don't spend it destroying others.
