He needs a drink but they won’t let him have one, so he has to sit here painfully sober, waiting for Uncle Sergej to breathe his last. The old git doesn’t deserve either of the Volkovs sitting here, honoring his last moments in their own ways, but it’s not as if Vasiliy can recognize that fact.

Vasiliy, in his usual way, decides he’d rather ignore the pain from the punch his brother just packed him. He’d like to say he managed it, but there’s some feeling he can’t quite put his finger on, one that demands to be felt no matter how hard he tries to push it away. 

Is this the closest he can come to having his heart broken? A numb feeling in his chest. Being torn between wanting to strangle his brother and scream at him until he realizes Yuliya doesn’t know shit. A headache is starting to set in.
