Before They Love Me
Before they burn my bones or lock me away… I want you to know. There’s not a place in this world you could go that I wouldn’t follow. If I’m drowning or frowning or dying or crying you’ll always be on my heart. If I left here today in the most selfish way it still wouldn’t tear us apart. Before they tag my toe, announce I’m DOA… I have some things I wanted to say. You’re the one thing I’ll regret leaving behind. Then again how can I lose what isn’t mine? When I finally leave, promise that you’ll smile for me. Promise you won’t shed a tear, you’ll be happy that I’m free. Tell the man I would’ve married how much love he would’ve felt. Tell my kids that won’t exist that you gave ours to someone else. Before I ask God to forgive me for this sin… I’d like to share some things that I’ve been holding in. I don’t love anyone except my mom & you. It’s funny cause no one has hurt me like you two. Before they all love me & miss seeing my face, I wanna tell you that you’ll never be replaced. I long for better days, so before you make me want to stay… Donate my organs & set me ablaze. Release my ashes on memory lane.
