PLEASED EXPRESSION COMES to features at the other's admission, an admittance through all the beating around the bush that they've been doing. astarion has been telling himself that he doesn't care, but if he's being honest, hearing those words come from eunjae is more reassuring than he'd admit. even when he's all powerful, arguably the most powerful vampire in baldur's gate, he still sometimes feels small.

hearing this from other's lips is another ploy for power, & he can feel this, but he cares more for the words than for their potential at manipulation. the vampire reaches out and grips at eunjae's chin, tipping other's head up toward him, & crimson gaze glitters with something akin to satisfaction. ❝ yes, you are, darling. ❞ he replies easily, taking the opportunity to turn other's face away, moving fingers to caress along eunjae's cheek. ❝ you are all mine, beloved. you belong to me, just as i belong to you. ❞

IT DOES STING, as he said it might, but tiereny is used to some level of constant pain, & he weathers it with a soft smile in other's direction. ❝ thank you, ❞ he says, voice quiet in the space between them, the only other sound their breathing & the ceaseless ticking of the clock overhead. he feels like he's spent years here, & could spend many more, simply knowing that uryu is at his side. he would voice these thoughts, if he knew they were welcome ― as it is, he keeps them to himself, folds the tenderness into the way his gaze lingers on other's touch. ❝ thanks to you, i should be fine. i honestly don't know why my own powers didn't work. ❞ a worrying thought, one that tiereny stuffs down inside for later rumination.

brows furrow and indignant look is given to eunjae even as other tries to go out of his way to help. astarion isn't used to anyone caring about his injuries, or about his bruised ego. other isn't exactly being polite or delicate when offering help, but astarion can't exactly blame him ― his stubborn pride is the reason why other's growing impatient. arms cross defensively but astarion can't hide the way his body jerks with the effort of it; pulling at torn side. ❝ oh, if you must, ❞ pale elf says after a moment, making dismissive gesture. ❝ just get on with it. can't be here all night. ❞ they still have to make it to camp.
