Merri pauses, considering before she nods her head. “I think so,” she says. “I mean I have my costume already, I bought it like.... so early. And it’s just gonna’ sit in my closet otherwise.” She spins her pencil between her fingers. “Are you?”

going  to  parties  was  a  slippery  slope     ;    you  never  really  knew  what  was  going  to  happen.        the  only  guarantee  was  booze      -     and  lots  of  it.         the  cheers  of  the  attendees  come  and  go,        a  snare  he  had  been  trapped  in  before  he  managed  to  stumble  away  from  the  crowd  and  somewhere  he  could  gather  his  spinning  thoughts        -       or  so  was  his  intention.         he  vaguely  registers  bean  on  the  other  end  of  the  couch,         her  and  gordie  talking  about  something  grizz’s  hazy  mind  couldn’t   interpret  from  gibberish.         grizz  utters  a  brief  greeting  before  he  tumbles,        arm  outstretched  to  catch  himself  hovering  over  gordie  as  he  was  on  his  way  through  to  plop  between  the  conversing  duo.       “uh,     sorry   -”     he  mumbles,      gaze  flicking  upward  and  meeting  gordie’s.

“It’s okay that you don’t.” Merri sits quietly in front of Gordie, a frown on her face. “Maybe just start with what you’re feeling. First words that come to your brain. My dad used to say that first thought was what you really wanna’ talk about, and the rest will build from there.”

“That’s why I brought tea.” Merri puts down a large thermos in front of Gordie and takes two cups out of her bag. “I’d’ve brought coffee, but I wasn’t sure you drank it. I hope this is okay.”

In Harry’s mind, that was a compliment, but it didn’t sound like one. He heard the malice behind the other male’s tone, and was kind of surprised the kid was showing some semblance of a backbone. He didn’t think he had it in him. “I’m sorry, who are you again?” he asked, but he knew damn well who he was. Well actually, he knew enough about him. Gordo or whatever. He was one of Allie’s lackies. So they couldn’t be friends. @loyaltygave
