And that's that for Echoes of Wisdom! A pleasant, charming game to be sure!
There's good and bad to be had, but it's certainly an unusual game. I'll definitely be going back over it to collect those Echoes I'm missing, which luckily for me, is a scant ten, per the post-game break down. One of which, humorously enough, is the damn carrot Echo used to summon your horse. I did not actually bother to do the Horse Ranch quest until just after my fifth (or sixth, depending on how you're counting) dungeon. Just going to drop a break here though, because I want to talk a bit more freely about this game.
so today i played echoes of wisdom
The last true playable Zelda experience.
As someone who's first experience with The Legend of Zelda series was literally The Wand of Gamelon, finally everyone will believe me when I say there is a game that stars Zelda.
I was not expecting a new Top-Down Legend of Zelda to be announced today. I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am! And the fact that it launches so soon just, I am positively thrilled!
I was hoping an Oracle remake would be in development, using the same graphics engine as the Link's Awakening remake. Something that would tie their remakes to their originals in the same way as the original games. But this is a truly unexpected direction.
I mean, sure. We've been saying we want the opportunity to play as Zelda in her own game for a bit now, but I think most fans expected a game to simply give you the choice between Link or Zelda, as if these two characters have anything even remotely in common in terms of personality, fighting style, history. A playable Zelda should not be functionally a female Link, and I think a number of people have made this critical error a number of times.
Which is why I think this is the exact right direction. I just need dungeons, good, exciting dungeons and massive puzzle bosses.
I cannot overstate either how happy I am for Zelda to have the chance to be a Pokémon Trainer!
Somehow I didn't even notice this game was released until two days after it came out but I am really enjoying it being a spiritual successor to TotK in comedic freedom in puzzle solutions.
Anyway this was the easiest fight so far because he literally cannot hit you if you just endlessly summon crows.
So, a concerning amount of my time with this game has been spent with me simply trying to figure out whether or not I accidentally did not acquire the right Echo for certain puzzles and situations. And a number of platforming challenges boil down to: Bed? Or Spider?
In the early game, I disregarded the utility of the Strandtula, but it's a weirdly useful one at this point.
