Just a couple of sketches from work. I keep a layout pad without a cover on my desk at all times and take a break every now and then to doodle a little something. It helps keep my mind fresh and is a welcome break from design focused stuff.

A quick sketch of a young Lance in a distinctly more human form... as well as Lance and Yolos-ish heads. Floating heads. Yeah.

I've not drawn them in such a long time. I feel like I've committed a crime!

'Mack Knife-In-The-Eye & Cheshire Grin'

Ugh, the parade of the unfinished... I had hoped I would see this one through to the end, but, well, other things took over. It was actually going to be a sketch for Gellyh over on DeviantART and has some history behind it.

A long time ago, we were talking about name generators and I asked what her 'gangster name' would be. Somehow we ended up giving each other names and settled for Mack Knife-In-The-Eye and Cheshire Grin (well that one was to be expected... I can't draw anything without a creepy rictus). They have stuck until this day.

These two are the result of my imagining those names as characters (and very shifty looking ones at that). I think listening to Mack The Knife also had something to do with it! ;)

I was just checking dA one final time before hopping off to bed, since I have to be up early tomorrow morning to have my second wisdom tooth removed. Seeing this takes part of my pre-surgery anxiety away ;^;

Aww. :3 You are so welcome Mackie gurl! I sure hope it goes well for you tomorrow and that it's not too harsh on you afterwards! I've had four teeth out in one sitting in the past, so I know how you feel!

I guess I should really mention what inspired me to draw this, in case I'm considered morbid or something similar... the idea behind it is actually rather charming. :)

Back in the spring of this year, I paid a visit to the beautiful (and not so little) Highgate Cemetery (in London); rambling, ivy engulfed and historical burial grounds with a breathtaking display of Victorian monuments, now completely at one with nature. One of the main sights of the old West side is the Circle of Lebanon, a circle within a circle of family vaults, each with a little sealed door at the front with an inscription either on it or above it. At the time of viewing these, a thought passed through my mind and I turned to my travel companion and said 'you know, this is so sad. They're like little houses. It's almost as if you could reach out and knock on one of the doors to see who is in and wake them from their sleep'.

'Hence the 'cold caller' makes his solemn walk around the cemetery and with his little lamp to guide him, knocks on all the doors to let the dead know that they're late in joining the night's festivities...'
