Common Name: #Elegance, #ridgecoral Difficulty Level: Elegance #coral should be known as an expert only coral. Due to the unkown needs of these corals, they don’t typically fair well in captivity with the exception of some Australian species. Feeding: They have one of the most aggressive prey capture and stinging abilities of all coral with the ability to even sting aptasia. Elegance will readily accept most meat based foods including pellets and will usually benefit substantially from it. Lighting: Strong lighting is key to success. Waterflow: Elegance is most often found in lower flow lagoon areas though they will often adapt to moderate flow levels if given time to adjust. Placement: With a sting no coral can match, these corals require their space and will not be the one who suffers if met with another coral. They should be placed on the sand bed away from rocks to avoid damaging their flesh. General: Elegance is one of those corals that’s truly best left in the wild. Common names: #Cyphastrea Difficulty Level: Cyphastrea is one of the least light demanding #LPScoral and is also very tolerant of most chemical conditions. Feeding: Cyphastrea will readily accept most meat based foods that it can grab with its tentacles. Lighting: Low light would be overstating the dim conditions cyphastrea is capable of thriving in. Some specimens may even be seen growing on the underside of rocks as they creep up toward the light. Great #coral for that shady spot near the bottom of your rocks or even for the back wall of the aquarium. Waterflow: Cyphastrea may be grown under a wide range of flow conditions as long as there is enough to keep its flesh free of detritus and other debris. Placement: Lower light areas near the bottom of rockwork is usually most suitable although they will readily adapt to more light and higher placement is desired. Common names: #Bubblecoral Difficulty Level: Bubble Coral is generally tolerant, but must have stable alkalinity to survive. Feeding: Bubble #coral can extend large aggressive feeding tentacles which may be fed through broadcast or direct suspension matter feeding. They will also readily accept pellets and other large meat based foods if placed on extended bubbles or tentacles. Lighting (Level 6 to 8): Most prefer moderate lighting, but will adapt to varying conditions. As with all hard coral, take care to move them slowly into increased lighting conditions. Water flow: Lower to moderate flow is best to keep from damaging this corals large fleshy polyps. Placement: Bubbles coral is very aggressive and should be placed where it can not sting other corals. Be sure to leave space for the polyps to expand without being brushed against rocks. General: The big inflatable bubbles seen during the day turn in to long feeder tentacles at night. It’s thought that the bubbles expand to best capture light during the day, but are then adapted to best capture food at night.
