hoooooo boy, back to HQ classique.

it was really fun to get to draw classic hq after all this time - cool to see how he looks now in my style after like, a bajillion years. (fr tho at least 5 lol)

anger!! i like how his cape kinda looks like fire, its very dramatic. his nose also immediately starts bleeding, as part of his sort of regression into his past state....

lq being like 'oh jesus christ i thought we were done with nosebleeds', jokes on you asshole its always nosebleed oclock in lq land

i had an extra face edit i didnt end up using:

this was going to be for a small aside of 'ok y'all don't be fuckin weird about this' to the audience as hes about to do a forehead press, but ultimately i figured they're kinda in their own world rn and idk how much lq remembers the audience is there

and then, of course:

i.... no joke, really really like how this one came out. drawing LQs profile has always been exceedingly difficult for me (there are some, uhm, faces out there on his blog that are.... bad lol. wack) but i feel like it finally clicked for me a bit? shrug

also i like how this is very much a visual metaphor for LQ where he was before, and now LQ where they are presently. also i like their little speech at the end, and at last the reveal of what tf lq was doing in the field.

me trying to come up for a better pairing name for LQ and HQ and all I’ve got so far is “OH MY GOD HES JACKIN OFF” …. like uh

The closest thing to it is like yugi/yami from ygo but that’s ‘puzzleshipping’ and that doesn’t really lend itself super well to non-ygo stuff

first and foremost i feel like my lineart has gotten really good - ive kinda been really lacklustre w/ my drawing practice over the last few years, but the time i put into doing my webcomics (Riverwake + After Your Possession) kinda shows? i hope??

this was the first LQ picture i had drawn in........ like 4-5 years lol. even longer if you dont count Lowan / Riverwake stuff.... cool. weird how drawing LQ is like riding a bike for me at this point.

honestly a part of me almost prefers these versions lol, it'll be nice if i get to do an 'LQ's mindspace' sort of event because those are always monochromatic blues + lineart lol

the flag field... i wanted to show that they were like, tattered and dirty from being out in the field. also ignore that little color icon of lq in the corner lol i reused the background for the following panel and im too lazy to get it out of there =u=;;;

i dont know why he put the flag on his head lol.... (also the static for his eye i did in post so thats why its not on this shot lol)

you can see his right eye turn red between these two shots, but i dont think it came across suuuper clear in the GIF version? ah well

ps sorry for the gap in lq stuff - was Very Busy last week, and now it is the hot times here in pgh and so i am absolutely inflamed to hell. barely surviving here lol. its great

I really felt I should express how overjoyed I am knowin LQs been nonbinary all along!! And especially that it helped u to explore ur own gender back then and you've since realized! Like, I remember when you made Lowell and I loved them and they meant so much to me because I hardly EVER saw nonbinary characters, like even the amount of OCs I ever saw back then I could count on one hand. And they just resonated with me a lot and now i fully realize why! Also, does LQ just use any pronouns now?

yeah its so funny tho like, we're re-reading lqs blog again and its. SO obvious to me now, but back when i was writing it originally i like.... knew LQ had some sort of gender dysphoria? especially after his magic anons and whatnot lol, but i never connected the dots as to A) why he was like that, B) why i wrote him like that, C) why I, me, a ""cisgender"" person wrote him like that.... and then wrote Lowell as a nonbinary character as well............................................................................................. im not very bright when it comes to stuff like that ngl ;;

(i mentioned to my sibling that im seriously considering top surgery finally and she was like 'bruh yeah go for it. you've been wanting that since they grew in' like ?????????????????????????????? how tf did i miss that)

anyways LQ's pronouns are more of an any-pronouns sort of situation - he still uses he/him a lot and isn't offended when others use it for him, but if anyone were to call them 'they/them' or even a she/her i bet it'd bring em a lil smile :>

(also a side thing that idk if we'll get to it or not but - morgan and i were joking that LQ is nonbinary but... doesn't know literally much of anything about it... he maybe thinks he invented being not cisgender? who knows)

(also also - does he use a singular they/them or a plural they/them??? yes)

had to go to the doctor to give them not only my bone nudes but also 8 vials of my JUICE (blood), so that’s fun

anyways tho on the drive home I maybe came up with the coolest fucking character design…. I mean like, it’s all very loose since I was, yknow, operating a motor vehicle at the time, but I am excited

LQ updates will begin again shortly - had to do the whole matrimony bit and all last weekend 🫡💕 and then this upcoming weekend will be a break as well, but I’ll hopefully get back into the swing of things soonish? there’ll be an update later today at least. yay!
