the thought of Marcus. as a kid watching movies with Douglas (i.e Marcus was In The Room while Douglas was goofing off) and seeing how over emotional everyone gets in acting and Marcus watches a character sob heavily and asks:
Marcus: Hey, dad? What is that lady doing?
Douglas: Uhh, crying. sheās sad.
Marcus: You said you were sad all the time, why arenāt you crying?
Douglas: (Whispering to himself) Iām crying on the inside. (Louder) Um, anyways, people only cry if they... get really sad. Or whatever.
Douglas: Well, I mean, um, do you want to cry?
Marcus: If I could cry, would that help my missions?
Douglas: Probably? I mean, itād take you some practice since you donāt really... feel things.
Marcus: (Smiling) Okay, Iāll practice.
And whenever Marcus āpracticesā Douglas can tell that they seem weirdly into it. Like āHaving-Feelingsā into it. Douglas brushes it off, mostly. He just thinks that Marcusās programming is exaggerating their actions and disregards it, ignoring Marcusās clear love of the hobby.
Douglas slowly encourages Marcus to keep practicing, and Marcus starts performing shows for Douglas, who finds it hilarious and keeps on encouraging Marcus to continue, even when they should be focusing more on the mission of capturing Douglasās kids, and at some point, Douglas starts to momentarily forget he didnāt program Marcus with feelings, unaware that Marcus has always been feeling things, they just didnāt understand it.
